Mirthwood allows players to bond with other characters. And you will be able to find quite a few candidates to befriend. The world is not empty, as people live around you. The relationship system is similar to the one from The Sims. It means that you pick a general interaction and your protagonist will do everything on their own. If you are close enough to the other character, you will be able to unlock more actions, quests or even marriage.
Yes, the game allows you to marry NPCs. It is still unknown how much this system will be developed at launch; however, it will definitely be upgraded later. The newest roadmap teases that it will be updated in Q1 2025. Simultaneously, we will get children and legacy system, which suggests that we will be able to create our own dynasty.
