Hardcore Gamer: 3.5 / 5 by Adam Beck
Metal Gear and Metal Gear Solid remain some of the best stealth action games on the planet, so it’s disappointing they’ve been treated with such disregard. With that said, at the very least the Maser Collection is beautiful time capsule of how the series has evolved, even including translated encyclopedias of the games. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 has plenty of technical frustrations, but at least it remains true to the classics.
VG247: 3 / 5 by James Billcliffe
The Master Books are bursting with interesting tidbits that helped me to contextualise each game and the storyline as a whole better than ever before, but there’s relatively little within the games themselves to make this a real must-have if you still have access to previous collections and releases.
Daily Mirror: 5 / 5 by Scott McCrae
If you expected spruced-up versions of these titles, you'll leave disappointed. But if you're after a way to play one of the best video game series ever made on modern platforms wrapped up in a nice package, you won't be disappointed.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 Description
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is a remaster compilation of three iconic Metal Gear games, those being Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The compilation was developed and published by Konami, the owners of the IP.
Plot
The games included in Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 tell the stories of a special operative infiltrating enemy bases, discovering their secrets and foiling their plans.
Metal Gear Solid stars Solid Snake, infiltrating Shadow Moses island in Alaska after it was taken over by FOXHOUND, a rogue special forces unit, tasked with bringing an end to their occupation before things get out of hand. Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty begins aboard a tanker ship transporting a mech capable of launching nuclear missiles, afterwards shifting to a marine decontamination facility. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is set in the Soviet Union, where Naked Snake must survive in a jungle and stop the communists from winning the Cold War.
Mechanics
All games included in Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 make use of the third-person perspective (TPP). The player must be stealthy, sneaking behind enemies or taking them by surprise. The third game significantly expanded the stealth aspect, letting us hide among dense vegetation or use different kinds of camouflage. Each game revolves around completing missions and facing enemies, who can be eliminated via firearms and various gadgets. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater also introduces some survival elements; the protagonist suffers realistic injuries and must eat regularly.
Technical aspects
The games included inMetal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 haven't had their visuals upgraded much; instead they were adapted to widescreen resolutions.
