Football Manager Video Game Series

Following the rule of sports management games, the Football Manager series allows players to take on the role of managers of their favorite football teams and direct their functioning. The fun is primarily focused on transferring players, determining starting lineups and match tactics, making changes during the game, imposing training regimes, etc. An important issue is the club's finances, which have a decisive impact on, among other things, the ability to bring in the most valuable players.

Following the example of most managerial simulations, gameplay in Football Manager games is based mainly on the textual layer, i.e. analysis, comparisons and statistics. In newer installments of the series, however, the developers also introduced 3D graphical elements, including, for example, the ability to observe the course of the match live.

From the beginning, the Football Manager series is distinguished by an exceptionally extensive database of clubs, national teams and players. Most of the team names and player names are authentic, although there are also deviations from this rule (usually dictated by the lack of an official license). The reliability of the information contained in the games of the series is evidenced by the fact that in 2008 the Everton club from the English Premiership entered into an agreement with the Sports Interactive studio regarding the possibility of using the FM databases in the search for new talent.
