Football Manager 2023 is the next installment of the most popular sports manager series. The player takes charge of a football team and must take care of recruiting players, winning matches and the financial side of the business.
Football Manager 2023 is a sports manager game. It was developed by Sports Interactive studio, the authors of all previous installments.
Game mechanics
The game develops ideas from earlier installments. Football Manager 2023 allows you to play the role of a manager of a football team. Our task is to lead the team to success. For this purpose, we recruit players and members of the coaching team. We also have to determine the lineups for matches and the tactics used in them. Our duties also include managing the financial side of the club and taking care of relations with fans and the press. It is also important to interact with the players and keep them happy.
The authors of Football Manager 2023 have purchased many official licenses, so while playing we play in real leagues, with real teams and players, and all this is based on a very extensive database, updated for many years, reflecting the current soccer situation in the world. The most significant change this year is the addition of fully licensed UEFA competitions: Champions League, Europa League, Europa Conference League and European Super Cup.
Compared to the previous edition, the authors have increased the realism of the gameplay, improved the AI and implemented interface improvements.
Game modes
The heart of the gameplay is the single-player mode, but the game also offers multiplayer mode. In addition to the classic career, the draft, familiar to fans of the series, is also available, having the form of a small tournament, in which we choose players within a limited budget. Or you can create your own club and lead it from scratch to the top national leagues and continental competitions.
Technical aspects
In Football Manager 2023, we spend most of our time in simple but clean two-dimensional menus of various types. The matches, on the other hand, are shown in 3D form. The game engine accurately shows the events taking place on the pitch, but features rather simple animations.

Football Manager 2023 works great. It’s a powerful second life, second job or simply your biggest passion simulation tool. If you are familiar with the previous installment, you’ll enjoy new things, and if you want to try the series out for the first time, the 2023 edition is a great place to start and learn.

In all, Football Manager 23 represents another step forward for the franchise but it’s a title win without much competition. The changes to recruitment and squad planning are impressive and welcome, but the lack of an overhaul to the match engine may leave players wanting more. The addition of Champions League graphics – yes, you don’t have to download a third-party image pack anymore – helps improve the realism and overall story of your saves but it’s ultimately not a game-changer. It’s still a must-have for any football fan, of course, and you’ll find yourself in that classic routine of ‘just one more match’ before long.
