After 20 Years, Football Manager Adds Something Everybody Wanted

On the official blog of the Football Manager series the developers published a post in which they revealed ambitious plans for the next two installments.

Football Manager 2024

Let's start with the next installment.

1. This year's installment will traditionally debut in the fourth quarter of the year.
2. Football Manager 2024 will finally offer the ability to import save game data from the previous installment. Fans have long been asking for this feature, wanting to continue playing in the next installment instead of starting from scratch. Now they will finally be able to do so.
3. The game is also expected to offer animation improvements.
4. Football Manager 2024 is announced as the last game of its type, as its successor is expected to offer revolutionary changes. Therefore, the developers want this year's installment to be as complete as possible and thus sum up this era in the development of the series.

Football Manager 2025

1. The option to import saves is to become a permanent feature. Therefore, saved game state from FM23 will be loaded into FM24 and the saves from this year's installment can then be transferred to Football Manager 2025.
2. This is all the more impressive because next year's installment of the series is expected to be a real revolution, the biggest since 3D matches were implemented in FM09.
3. In Football Manager 2025 the devs will finally change the engine. The existing technology will be replaced by the popular Unity.
4. The engine change will not only improve graphics during matches. We will also get a new, more convenient interface.
5. The same change also awaits other branches of the brand in the form of FM25 Console and FM25 Touch. Only FM25 Mobile will remain with the old engine, at least for the time being (further plans include moving this branch of the series to Unity as well).
6. The developers have plans to thoroughly revamp the animations. We will see the first effects of this as early as this year, but only in Football Manager 2025 we will experience the full scale of these changes.
7. FM25 will finally introduce women's teams. Plans to add them were announced two years ago, but it won't be until next year that the devs will be able to realize these promises.

The developers also boasted that Football Manager 2023 was played by the largest number of people in the history of the series, the game's availability in Game Pass having helped much in this achievement. All older installments of the series are currently played by around 5 million people monthly.
