Revenge Mode | Combat For Honor Guide
Last update: 16 February 2017
The primary use for the mechanic called Revenge mode is to give a player a handicap when facing more than one enemy player. When the bar is full, a player can use this mode to boost combat abilities of their character. In this chapter you can find information about how to fill Revenge bar and its activation.
Revenge bar
Obviously, you can't use it whenever you want. If you want to enter Revenge mode the first thing that you must do is to fill the bar completely. This bar can be found in the bottom left corner of the screen - at first, you can't see it (when it is empty), it appears when you start filling it.
The process of filling the bar is rather simple - each attack that you block or parry fills up the bar. Remember that in 1-on-1 fight you can't fill it up - it can only be done when you fight at least with two enemies. The more enemies you face, the quicker the bar is filled which allows you to enter Revenge mode. A character that has a full Revenge bar glows gold - thanks to that you can see whether an enemy can activate this mode or not.
The most important thing that you must remember is that the Revenge bar fills up only in Lock Mode. When you are not using it the bar simply won't fill up and the amount of it that you have already accumulated will slowly start to deplete when you leave the Lock Mode.
Revenge mode characteristics
When the Revenge bar is full the only thing that you must do is to press the correct button. You get a shield that consumes some of the damage and, because of that, your character will lose less health. Your every attack is more powerful and doesn't consume stamina - in this mode you can attack your enemies without any pauses.
Additionally, your attacks are unblockable - although your enemy can "block" your attacks, they will still receive a lot of damage. What is more, every time when you parry enemy's attack they fall to the ground which allows you to deal them tremendous amount of damage.
But the Revenge mode doesn't last forever. You have only a few seconds after the activation and then all of the profits will disappear - your attacks goes back to normal, the shield disappears and your character can be exhausted again.
Tips
You should remember about a few things when it comes to Revenge mode, such as:
- The duration of Revenge mode can be prolonged by the usage of proper items. More about this can be found in the chapter dedicated to the equipment.
- The moment for the activation must be chosen wisely - enemies that attack you during the activation are immediately pushed back and they fall to the ground which allows you to perform a counterattack.
- Remember that in this state your Guard Breaks can interrupt enemy's attacks - use it to your advantage to surprise your enemies easily.
- Don't forget that your throws and parries push back your enemies and make them fall to the ground which, in turn, allows you to perform a successful counterattack. Also, you can throw them into the abyss or on the environment elements that will deal them damage.
- When your enemy is the one that activates this mode you should just keep your distance. You won't be able to win with them 1-on-1 (the situation won't get better even if you fight along with your allies) and each one of your attacks can end in you falling to the ground and dying very quickly. Keep your distance, use a lot of dodges and just wait till their Revenge mode is depleted.
- If you see your ally fighting with an enemy and you can clearly tell that your ally can win, you should not help them! By joining the fight and making it 2 vs. 1 you only help your enemy by allowing them to fill their Revenge bar more easily and enter said mode. This may backfire on you and, instead of winning the fight, you may both end up dead.
