1. Patience and composure are the key to victory. There is no point in charging at your enemy like a wild beast and trying to click them to death. The enemy can easily counter your attacks, throw your character off balance and deal severe damage. It is better to attack less often but more accurate.
2. Each class fights differently. Heavy Conqueror deals a lot of damage but his attacks are slow, Berserker allows you to attack your enemies constantly but their reach is rather short, Nobushi can attack the enemies from a greater distance but is vulnerable to short distance attacks.
3. Keep an eye on your stamina meter. When it is depleted your attacks are much slower and each throw, or most of the counters end up with your character falling on the floor. When the stamina meter comes to 1/3 of its length you should stop attacking for a few seconds and allow for its regeneration.
4. Keep an eye on the Revenge meter in the bottom left corner of the screen. It fills up, for example, when you block attacks or fight a few enemies at the same time. When it is completely full you can enter Revenge mode - your character can deal more damage, receive less and will get tired slower. This mode can decide about the outcome of a fight.
5. Also, watch out for your enemy's Revenge meter. You can't see your enemies' revenge meter so you can't know about how much is it filled up, but you can have an impact on how fast it fills up. When your ally fights with an enemy and you are sure that your ally will win you shouldn't join the fight. Each additional target for your enemy has an impact on how fast the Revenge meter fills up. By doing this you can harm your ally by filling enemy's Revenge meter which can lead to your defeat.
6. Try to combine different types of attack (light and heavy) with different stances to surprise your enemy. Attacks from different directions and with different frequency are much harder to parry than a series of strong and slow overhead cuts.
7. Learn to block enemy's attacks. Every attack done by your enemy can be easily blocked (as long as you are in Lock Mode) - the attack is signalized by a red indicator that also points the directions of said attack. In order to block it the only thing you must do is to point your weapon in the same direction. But remember that some attacks (also the ones that are done in Revenge mode) can't be blocked.
8. Also, remember about Guard Break. Advanced players can block most of your attacks. Guard Break can be useful in those situations. This can only be done when your character is close to the enemy which allows you to break their guard, giving you a "free" attack. Remember that the enemy can also use this move.
9. Guard Break can be countered. When you know that the enemy wants to use this technique all you need to do is to use Guard Break. Both attacks will nullify each other.
10. Don't forget about the throws. Although the name may suggest that, you can't actually throw objects at your enemies. However, it allows you to throw your opponent. Pressing the Guard Break button twice allows you to push away an enemy - by doing this you may throw them off the cliff or just stun them. Additionally, when your enemy depleted their stamina bar, the throw will knock them on the floor.
11. Beside blocking you can also parry the attacks. Most of the classes can parry enemy's heavy attacks. If you want to use it you must set your weapon in the same direction from which the enemy initiates their heavy attack and then perform it yourself (it also must be a heavy attack) just before enemy's cut reaches you. This requires some practice, but a parried attack throws your enemy of balance which allows you to deal some damage to them.
12. Use your character's special attacks. You can check them in the menu during every fight. The list can also be found in the chapters dedicated to specific classes. Each class has at least a few attacks that are available only for them. They can be useful and give you an advantage over an enemy, especially, when they know nothing about your character.
13. Use the environment to your advantage. Various cliffs or ledges and even seemingly small hills allows you to "kick out" an enemy into the abyss which results in their death or revealing them for next attacks. Beside cliffs you can also, for example, use bonfires - when you push your enemy into it they start to burn and lose a lot of health points.
14. One does not live by chasms alone. During the fights you can also use the landform itself and narrow passages. When you use a character with a short range and your enemy has a greater reach with their weapon you can use walls, boulders or passages to gain advantage - enemy's attacks will get blocked by the environment giving you a chance to counterattack or catch a breath.
