Dominion Mode | Tips How to play Dominion in For Honor?

Last update: 09 March 2017

1. Dominion mode puts emphasis on team play - the number of kills doesn't matter here because it has little to no impact on the number of points gained. Here, the more important thing is the coordination with allies, controlling the map, taking over the checkpoints and being a hindrance to enemies.

2. Dominion mode is focused on getting more points. Each team has to get 1,000 points and when one of the teams gets this amount of points, the players of the opposing team cannot revive after death. Then, the only thing that must be done is to kill all of the enemies but be careful and don't allow enemy allies to revive each other. After their death the battle is over. Remember that when the enemies lowers your team's score, making it lower than 1,000, they get back the ability to automatically revive after death.

3. In this mode the main source of points is having the control over the checkpoints on the map. Points A and C are always on the outskirts of the map while B is in the center. Getting the control over them grants your team a constant gain of points per second.

4. The checkpoints that you manage to take over can also be "reinforced". All you need to do is to have at least one member of the team that currently controls the checkpoint to be near it. When this happens the checkpoint is reinforced. This gives more points to your team and because of that it is a good idea to defend checkpoints from enemies. Points A and C can be reinforced, while B can't.

5. Killing the soldiers also gives you points. Each defeated soldiers gives 1 point to your team.

6. Killing an enemy player gives you 5 points. Additionally, each kill done by a player that was not defeated by the opposing team grants you additional point. It looks something like this: second kill gives 6 points, third 7, fourth 8 and so on and so forth. After player's death and stopping their killing spree this effect is reset.

7. Capturing a checkpoint also gives you a certain amount of points. Capturing a checkpoint gives 100 points to your team, losing it (when it is captured by an enemy) takes those points from your team and gives them to the opposing team.

8. Killing enemy players is not only about getting points. Although 5 points per kill is not much, each fallen player must wait for a few seconds before they can get back to game.

9. There is no point in wasting your time chasing a player, even when they have a small amount of health points and can be "one-shot". Chasing such enemy, especially when it is done be a few allies, leads to a situation where enemies can capture a checkpoint or kill a lot of allied soldiers.

10. In Dominion mode you can use your character's special abilities. Although you can set them before the match, they are locked in the beginning of the game. You unlock them by killing enemy soldiers and players or by capturing checkpoints. Some of the abilities, like calling a catapult strike, can be very devastating, resulting in deaths of many players at the same time or clearing a checkpoint from enemy soldiers.

11. Remember to choose abilities that are best suited for your role in the team. If you focus on defending the checkpoint in the center (B) it is a good idea to select support abilities to help your soldiers or to deal a wide range attacks. If you decide to move around the map, capture points A and/or C, or fight with other players you should pick those abilities that helps you to fight with enemy champions or to capture checkpoints faster.

12. When you wait for a respawn you should look around the map. By doing so you can see enemies approaching a given checkpoint and inform your team mates.
