General Tips How to play For Honor?
Last update: 09 March 2017
1. Learn about pros and cons of every class in the game. Thanks to that, you can fight and win with other players that will use different classes than you.
2. Try to use all classes. There are 12 characters in the game. They are different from each other when it comes to the way they are played, the equipment or their feats. Play a few matches using each one of them so you can choose one that is (or are when you want to use a few of them) the best suited for your play style.
3. Remember that you don't have to unlock classes (by paying a lot of Steel) to play as them. Purchasing a class allows you "only" to change their appearance, equipment and feats - but a class can be used in all of the game types in the game.
4. Using a few classes may be interesting but it is recommended to focus on one and master it. Each class has its strong and weak points, there is no "the best" class - everything depends on player's abilities and their knowledge about a given type of character. Playing many games using only one class allows you to unlock feats and equipment faster.
5. Complete all of the tutorial missions. By finishing them you can get resources that can be used to buy new elements of equipment or to upgrade but also you can learn about the game mechanics. Tutorial missions shows most of the game mechanics.
6. Remember to adjust the equipment to your play style. There is no point in leveling your defense during blocking if you dodge most of the attacks, or level up throwing range when you don't use range weapons. Try different configurations and choose one that is the best for you.
7. Dismantle useless equipment. Low level and useless items, that you won't use because they give bonuses to those stats that are not important to you, only take up space. By dismantling you can get necessary materials that are used in upgrading your equipment. Remember that your inventory has its capacity limit.
8. Don't focus only on item's level. What matters are the bonuses of a item, not its level.
9. Don't waste resources on items that are not that useful. You should save up materials for your side of the conflict until you get an item that is worth to be upgraded.
10. But remember to regularly upgrade the items that you use or that are worth upgrading. Although higher level items require more resources, they are usually worth upgrading.
11. Remember that you can spend your Steel to buy item packs. But there are other things that are worth spending your resources, such as upgrades or Champion status.
12. Complete Orders that can be accessed from the world map. Most of them doesn't require your interference because you will finish most of the activities that are connected with them. However, some of the Orders must be "activated" first before you start fulfilling them. Finishing the Orders is very profitable - they give you a lot of experience points, Steel and, sometimes, you can even get item packs.
13. Remember that the equipped items matter only in Dominion mode. In other modes (such as 1 vs. or 2 vs. 2) it doesn't matter what equipment you have.
14. Executions, although satisfying and spectacular, leave you open to enemy attacks. When you kill an enemy and the execution option shows up it is better to not use it, especially when there are enemies nearby - to "skip it" just exit the lock-on mode. But remember that executions give you some health points - use them when you are certain that you are safe.
15. Duels (1 vs. 1 mode) are the best method to get the knowledge about the classes. In this mode you can have a quick duel with one player and, after a few minutes, you can have another fight with a different player (and probably a different class). You won't get a lot of Steel or experience for you character but this allows you to master your class and learn how to fight other types.
16. This doesn't mean that other modes are useless. They simply offer a different experience - 2 vs. 2 mode is similar to a typical duel, but after a moment you will probably fight alone with two enemies (which is also a good thing because it allows you to learn how to fight in those situations). Other modes, such as Dominion mode (4 vs. 4) is focused on team play and completing the tasks, rather than simply fighting with other players.
17. Use the loading screen to learn about the heroes that you will have to face. Although you can't change your equipment, you can, for example, inform other team members that you can't fight with a given type of enemy and focus on a different one.
