Hot to play Peacekeeper? For Honor Peacekeeper Guide

This chapter contains detailed description of the Peacekeeper. You will find here information about his strengths and weaknesses, full moveset and combat tips.

Last update: 22 February 2017

Peacekeeper is an interesting addition to the world of For Honor - a fast assassin, dealing heavy damage and fighting in close range. Armed with a sword and dagger, Peacekeeper is characteristic for his lighting fast light attacks and high mobility, enabling her to deflect or dodge incoming attacks. Some of the players already know her from the infamous Bleed effect.

Peacekeeper - Strengths and Weaknesses

Peacekeeper is a very satisfying hero. - Hot to play Peacekeeper? - Knights - For Honor Game Guide
Peacekeeper is a very satisfying hero.

One of the biggest advantages of Peacekeeper is the ability to place the Bleed effect. Some of her attacks, especially the triple stab performed after the Guardbreak, enable her to place a Bleed effect. The enemy will receive a portion of damage that is dealt over time. Peacekeeper's damage dealing capabilities are mainly aligned with the aforementioned Bleed - without it, the hero wouldn't be that effective, as the effect itself has other uses - creates pressure. The dwindling health bar often forces the opponent to engage, creating an opportunity to deflect and counter with your own combination. If you want to play as Peacekeeper, these situations are your bread and butter.

Peacekeeper's stances enable her to block every attack for a brief period of time. Her, as well as other assassin classes in game, can use their stances (top, left, and right) to deflect any attack coming from that direction. Once the guard wanes (which can be noticed through the shade of the stance indicator) the hero will no longer maintain the block and return to the neutral stance - if an opponent proceeds with an attack after that moment, the hit will affect the hero normally. If you wish to maintain the shield without returning to the neutral stance, switch to a different focus, and return to the first one. Once you've spent enough time with the hero, you'll perform this rotation automatically.

Peacekeeper has an ability to Deflect incoming attacks - to perform this move, dodge in the direction of an incoming strike. This will enable you to block your opponent's attack and return with a Riposting Stab, an ability that will apply the Bleed effect. This ability counterbalances the limited use of stances, but imposes (and forces) an aggressive approach in dealing with your opponents.

Despite all her advantages, there are certain shortcomings, such as meager amount of health points, very short effective range, as well as only one viable playstyle. Those three elements result in numerous shortcomings - when something is wrong (e.g. the enemy feigned an attack you've wanted to deflect) you can easily lose most of your health points (or die on the spot from a well-performed combination). Moreover, Peacekeeper is only effective when close to his opponent - some classes (such as Kensei or Nobushi) will be able to keep you away, severely limiting your damage dealing abilities.

Moveset and hero-specific abilities

Learn all combinations by heart - they will come in handy

Peacekeeper's moveset is built mainly from reflex-based abilities that enable her to close the distance to the opponent, deal fast and deadly strikes, as well as apply the Bleed effect. Aside from Reflex, enabling the hero to reinforce his defense for a few seconds thanks to an assumed stance, Peacekeeper is without any defensive abilities, forcing a playstyle based on pressure and all-in attack.

Class Modifiers

Peacekeeper is reinforced by following class modifiers:

  • Renown - Peacekeeper earns more renown for 1v1 combat, killing enemy heroes, and kill streaks.
  • Defense: Reflex - Your stance enables you to block any attack for a brief period of time.
  • Deflect - Enables Peacekeeper to deflect an attack by making a dodge in the direction of an incoming attack.
  • Dagger Cancel - A strong attack can be cancelled during its initial animation by performing a light attack.
  • Stab Cancel - Enables you to interrupt a triple stab (performed as a follow-up to the Guardbreak) by pressing the Guardbreak button.
  • Zone Attack - Peacekeeper's Zone Attack can be Feinted after the initial strike.

Feats

Peacekeeper has access to 12 feats divided between 4 Tiers (each tier containing 3 abilities). You can choose four - each takes up one socket. The table below contains the list of all abilities.

Tier

2

Thick Skin - (Passive) Reduces the damage received. Available from the beginning.

Revenge Attacks - (Passive) Peacekeeper's attacks fill the Revenge bar. Requires level 9.

Class Attacks

As was mentioned before, Peacekeeper has access to a large set of special attacks, with some of them enabling her to place a Bleed effect onto her target. The table below contains tips and details on how to perform the given combinations.

Name

How to Perform

Description

Twisting Blades

Light Attack, Light Attack, Strong Attack

A basic combination, enabling Peacekeeper to throw two fast strikes and conclude with a stronger attack.

This combination is useful as a follow-up to a successful Guardbreak or a feinted strong attack (see Dagger Cancel)

Dervish Strikes

Light Attack, Strong Attack

A simple combination of a light and strong attack without any additional effects affecting the struck enemy.

This combination, similarly to Twisting Blades, is perfect for interrupting a strong attack through a Guardbreak or a bleed-inducing stab.

Sword Dance

Strong Attack, Strong Attack

A combination of two strong albeit sluggish attacks. Easy to mitigate and much less effective than those described above.

Yet, the second attack in the combination can also be cancelled and transformed into a Bleed-inducing stab or a Guardbreak (see Dagger Cancel)

Slipping Lunge

Sprint + Strong Attack

Unavailable in Lock Mode.

An attack that can only be performed while in a Lock Mode. Enables Peacekeeper to perform a powerful strike that is perfect to initiate a fight.

Deep Gouge

Strong Attack, Light Attack

A quick combination that applies Bleed on your target.

Dashing Thrust

Forward Dash + Strong Attack

Use this move if you want to lower the distance to your opponent and hit him with a strong attack.

A combination enabling Peacekeeper to perform a forward lunge, and hit an enemy with a strong attack.

Sidestep Strike

Side Dash (left/right) + Strong Attack

A different version of the combination above, enabling you to make a sidestep ending with a strong attack.

Stab

Guardbreak, Light Attack, Light Attack, Light Attack

Probably the most despised Peacekeeper ability in game. Enables the player to perform a combination of three light attacks after the Guardbreak, with the final stab placing a powerful Bleed on the target.

This combination cannot be blocked after the initial phase. The strikes have to be performed in order - pressing the buttons frantically won't do the trick.

Riposting Stab

Deflect by choosing an adequate stance + Light Attack

This attack can be performed by assuming a stance that enables the player to deflect the incoming attack. If you've managed to assume the right stance, the attack will be deflected. Approach the enemy and simply perform a light attack to apply a powerful Bleed.

Heavy Guard Break Cancel

Use Guardbreak during the initial phase of a Strong Attack

To begin the feint, start with a strong attack. Perform a Guardbreak after the initial phase of the attack (somewhere in the middle). If your Guardbreak was successful, you can follow-up with other attacks, such as Stab.

Zone Attack

Press Light Attack and Strong Attack simultaneously.

A strong Zone Attack that enables Peacekeeper to hit all nearby targets. The hero performs two attacks - first is an unblockable light attack, and second is a stronger power attack.

Tips

Triple Stab is probably the most despised attack in game. - Hot to play Peacekeeper? - Knights - For Honor Game Guide
Triple Stab is probably the most despised attack in game.

Some tips that often prove useful during combat:

  • Remember that all-in approach and frantic striking is the worst thing you can do. Keep maintaining pressure, as this is the only way to win, but maintain a level head.
  • Peacekeeper's damage output is mainly built around the Bleed effect. Learn all Bleed-inducing abilities by heart and make use of them on the battlefield. Aside from increasing your damage dealt, Bleed also has a psychological effect - the dwindling health supply may induce your opponent to start throwing hits and pressuring you. Such opportunities should always be used and utilized to your advantage.
  • Pay notice to your stance indicator. Peacekeeper, as all other assassin classes found in game, has a temporary block that switches off after a few seconds. You can see the exact moment when your guard switches off through the changing shade of the stance indicator. To regain the guard, simply change your stance to a different one, or return to the initial one if you wish.
  • Master Triple Stab (the one performed after the Guardbreak). This attack has the highest damage output from all available combinations, and is performed after a Guardbreak, increasing its chance of success. The attack requires a bit of finesse from the player, as all three stabs have to be performed in a rapid and even succession.
  • You have the ability to feint strong attacks. Peacekeeper's class modifiers enable her to cancel a strong attack and exchange it for a Dash, or feint a strong attack and proceed with a Guardbreak. These moves are quite powerful on their own, yet can be further reinforced by follow-up combinations.
  • Stay sharp - use Deflect. This ability enables Peacekeeper to deflect an incoming attack by dodging in its direction. It's an assassin-only defensive-offensive ability that is a backbone of their defense. Peacekeeper can follow a successful deflection with a Riposting Stab.
  • Avoid focusing on defense. As I mentioned earlier, Peacekeeper is an offensive-oriented hero - focus on constant movement, keep pressing your opponents and don't let them catch breath. However, avoid frantic assaults, as one strong combination can put you to sleep.
  • Monitor your stamina bar. Peacekeeper is a mobile hero, favoring aggressive playstyle and close-quarters combat. However, constant striking can quickly deplete your stamina bar - if you run out of stamina, your opponent will easily get through to you. When your stamina starts to run out (i.e. around 1/3 of its capacity) back down and regenerate it.
