Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition

  1. Release date: 2020
  2. Genre: jRPG

No respectable cycle of Japanese role-playing games would be complete without confusing publishing chronology. Xenoblade Chronicles is absolutely determined to observe this rule: in 2017, we got Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for Switch (which is indeed the third game in the series), and only now, three years later, will we get a chance to learn the beginning of the saga, thanks to the remaster.

This game takes place in an unusual world, located on the bodies of two gods. One is inhabited by people, the other by machines, preparing to invade their neighbors. The plot focuses on the eighteen-year-old Shulk, an orphan who discovers that he has the ability to wield the mythical Monado sword. The boy decides to use this ability and take revenge on the invaders who destroyed his village.

From what we know so far, the new version will not bring too many changes to the prototype released in 2010, mainly focusing on updating the visual design. The gameplay will consist of exploring, completing story missions, and fighting enemies.
