Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord – sandbox for knights

Why? Despite being in production for so many years, it's still an absolutely unique project that does not have any direct competition.

  1. Release date: March 2020 (early access)
  2. Genre: hybrid of strategy, RPG and action
  3. Platforms: PC

We've been waiting for a full-fledged sequel to Mount and Blade since 2012. TaleWords are leisurely tweaking their hybrid of strategy, action and role-playing, only occasionally mentioning a vague release date, which never seems to be getting closer. However, in 2020, we should finally get a chance to play Bannerlord – if not in its final version, then at least in the beta version available as part of the planned, March debut on Steam Early Access.

The first Mount and Blade was a delightful surprise, determined to give players one thing: freedom. It was a sandbox in which we ourselves shaped the history, traveling through the realm of Calradia, divided into many competing kingdoms, fighting, trading or recruiting soldiers. Bannerlord is also not going to force us into concrete actions, instead throwing us into the very center of the kingdom's complicated political situation, and urging us to try to solve these problems by methods of our choosing.

Mount and Blade will offer a slew of improvements in the matter of character creation and combat system. We will be able to more accurately control the troops or participate in impressive sieges. The game world will be much more believable, brimming with diverse life – which will be achievable with the new graphics engine. Trade and management of your estates will be more complex, and the artificial intelligence – improved. Bannerlord is simply set to be the Mount and Blade we remember, only better. Much better. And if that's the case – it will be worth the wait.
