Details from MicroProse – Gunship 4 in the making?. Games we dream to see at Summer Game Fest

It has been four years since the announcement of the return of the (once) legendary company, MicroProse. In the meantime, several indie games were released under this brand and work has been announced on the return of World War II bomber simulators. It ended with a few pieces of concept art and screenshots. We are constantly waiting for a true comeback, for a great game of the legend that once became famous for Civilization, Sid Meier's Pirates, and a whole series of incredibly playable flight simulators.
Perhaps such a big project will be the next installment of the famous helicopter game series, Gunship? We recently dug up a recording from a live stream chat where one of the leaders of the mysterious MicroProse project, Richard Hawley, might have said one word too many. He hinted that the company is working on another big project in the series. A year earlier, MicroProse advertised the enigmatic slogan, "A new era is coming," illustrated by opening hangar doors with an Apache helicopter inside. Concluding that the new Gunship may indeed be in production is not far-fetched.
Why are we waiting?
The MicroProse flight game is definitely worth waiting for, mainly because these developers always know how to combine accessibility and playability of an action title with the realism of a simulator, making it appealing for everyone, not just fans of games that require Bible-sized manuals. The company also has the technical know-how and the appropriate engine to develop exactly such a game. In the current reality, it seems to be the only studio that would simultaneously want and be able to bring back flight sims to a wider audience after the Modern Air Combat project by Eagle Dynamics disappeared without a trace. In the era of remakes of old legends, the new Gunship could make some noise and paradoxically turn out to be a breath of fresh air.
