Baldur's Gate 3. The best games of 2023 – the ultimate list

Table of Contents

Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios, 2023

  1. Release date: August 3
  2. Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5
  3. Our rating: 9/10

Fans of the Baldur's Gate series set in the world of Dungeons & Dragons had to wait a long time for the next full-fledged installment of the series, but it was probably worth it. The third installment received fantastic ratings and countless praises from players and reviewers who got fully immersed in this world. The action of the game begins 120 years after the events of the second installment and once again allows you to experience incredible adventures on your way to the famous Baldur's Gate. The story of BG3 is divided into three acts, in which the most important role is played by various side quests that can end in different ways. The game is also faithful to the mechanics of the turn-based combat system.

What is amazing about Baldur's Gate 3? Practically everything, except for optimization problems in the city. The story has no shortage of stunning moments, well-written dialogues, choices that have consequences, or characters and companions that are memorable. Along with this is perhaps the most significant thing – great freedom and room to show creativity in approaching different situations. Here you can take on the role of a specific character from the D&D world and follow its rules, rather than following the linear tracks set by the developers.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is a great adventure that's fun to be in. I adore this game despite all the potential pitfalls. Its freedom and possibilities really stand out – I think about the only game that could rival this RPG would be Fallout: New Vegas.
