Humankind. Unexpected hits of 2020

Darius Matusiak

Humankind

  1. Platforms: PC
  2. Genre: turn-based strategy, 4X
  3. Developer: Amplitude Studios

Humanity has already faced numerous problems in the course of its existence, but 2020 will bring a truly legendary clash. Humanind will challenge the queen of video games, Sid Meier's Civilization. The people from Amplitude Studios are not rookies, and already have developed a few 4x strategy games (exploration, expansion, exploitation, extermination), but so far, they have all been set in futuristic or fantastic universes.

In Humankind, on the other hand, we're looking at the same thing as in Civilization. We start with a simple, bronze-age settlement, with the goal of bringing the community to modernity. We will witness important events from the history of the world, and meet famous historical characters; a stable economy and the development of technology will be as important as a strong army. In Humankind, there will be no shortage of wars and battles rolling in a turn-based system – after all, humanity... never changes.

It's for you if:

  1. you liked the cartoon graphics of the latest Civ, and you're looking for something similar in style;
  2. you like games with "one more turn" syndrome.
