Gamedec Description
Gamedec is an RPG developed by the independent Polish team Anshar Studios, responsible for the warmly-received Detached. The game is based on Gamedec books by Marcin Przybylek, who acted as a consultant on the project.
Plot
Gamedec takes us to the 22nd century cyberpunk Warsaw City, whose inhabitants spend most of their time not in real but virtual world. This makes the latter a source of problems and a place where, for example, children are forced into slave labor (under the guise of playing attractive free-to-play games) and fraud and crime are commonplace. The main character of the game is the title Gamedec, a private detective investigating crimes committed in virtual worlds.
The plot of the game is non-linear, and the decisions we make not only shape its course but also affect the game world and the personality of our character. Moreover, the choices we make are not black and white (the bandit tracked down by the protagonist can be either a ruthless businessman or a man at the service of a corporation trying to bring a new order to the world, or a mother fighting for her children's welfare) and the game does not judge us in any way.
Mechanics
In Gamedec, the action is shown in isometric view. During the game, we not only travel through the scantly illuminated streets of Warsaw City but also virtual reality, in which we will find locations inspired by prehistory, the Wild West, or the Far East. The game is driven by tasks that can be performed both with the use of force (we can use firearms), as well as conducting long disputes with NPCs. In addition, the game features an extensive character progression system.
Technical aspects
Gamedec features high quality three-dimensional visuals. We may like the detailed locations, as well as the contrast between the colorful virtual worlds and the gloomy streets of Warsaw City.
