Jackalopes cloning (1001 Jackalopes) | Bonuses Deponia Doomsday Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
To get the 1001 Jackalopes achievement you need to be patient, focused, and persistent. It takes time, and during creating 243 combinations is easy to get lost, so the information of how to in any time check how many jackalopes you have already cloned and which ones is really useful.
To do this you need to open a file 'messages' in Deponia 4 folder (the same one where you can find savegames). To find this folder you need to see hidden folders and files. Then is best to search for this folder by searching Daedalic Entertainment GmbH - in this folder you will find Deponia 4 folder. Path for Windows 7: C\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Local\Daedalic Entertainment GmbH\Deponia 4\messages. In case of other versions of Windows it will be looking a little bit different, so the best way is to use the searching option.
If you are currently cloning jackalopes, in this file 'messages' on the bottom you will see columns of five-digit combinations of numbers from one to three. Below you will find an information about how many jackalopes you have already cloned, and how many left, e.g. "162/243 Wolpertinger created. 81 to go!". You don't need to search for already cloned jackalopes in the whole file. The combinations of numbers are always on the bottom.
To decipher correctly these five-digit codes, check what combinations you already used, to not get lost and unnecessary clone the same animals several times you need to know two things. What numbers 1, 2 and 3 mean (what feature is hidden by them) and which number from the combination is referring to which key in jackalope generator.
So: the animal in the generator has four parts: extremity, mood, body hair, and build. As extremity you can choose horns/ears/hat and with them also claws/paws/hands. By changing mood you can change between: nasty disposition/sunny disposition/funny disposition. By changing body hair you will change between fur/scales/skin. By changing build you will change a size of animal: small/medium/huge. By using the fifth key you can choose a colour: yellow/brown stripes/colourful spots.
Basics are animal with combinations of features: 11111 (lizard), 22222 (clown), and 33333 (bear).
So - features marked by number 1 are:
- horns and claws
- nasty disposition
- scales
- small size and four-footed animal
- yellow colour
Features marked by number 2:
- hat and hands
- funny disposition
- skin
- medium size and upstanding creature
- colourful spots
Features marked by number 3:
- ears and paws
- sunny disposition
- fur
- huge size and upstanding creature
- brown stripes
Also, very important information:
- first digit of the combination matches to fourth key in generator (build)
- second digit of the combination matches to first key in generator (extremity)
- third digit of the combination matches to second key in generator (mood)
- fourth digit of the combination matches to third key in generator (body hair)
- fifth digit of the combination matches to fifth key in generator (colour)
According to that if cloned jackalope is coded 13231 - it will be small (1 on the first place), with ears (3 on the second place), with funny disposition (2 on the third position), furry (3 on the fourth position), and yellow (1 on the fifth position).

My suggestion is to start with creating the basics jackalopes just as they are set on the cartridges: 01 - 11111, 02 - 22222, 03 - 33333. It can be done at the petting zoo, you don't have to go to the computer core to clone jackalopes. Just simply put the cartridge into the slot on the round pedestal where pets are sitting. Then try to use cartridges in generator in pairs like this: 01 and 02, 02 and 03, 01 and 03; with basics settings (11111, 22222, 33333). By exchanging features which are listed on the table below you can get quickly 90 jackalopes with combination of two digits, e.g. 11122, 22233, or 33111 (marked by green colour in the table above). In this case after every time you exchange features you can clone two animals from two cartridges you are currently using. Then you can add to basics settings features from other cartridges, and exchange them between cartridges to make combinations of three digits, e.g. 12312. To do this the file 'messages' is useful, because you can check what combinations are already done.
Key number | For every pair of cartridges - 01 and 02, 02 and 03, 03 and 01 - 15 features exchanges between every pair |
1 | + | + | + | + | + | ||||||||||
2 | + | + | + | + | + | ||||||||||
3 | + | + | + | + | + | ||||||||||
4 | + | + | + | + | + | ||||||||||

In table above by plus signed which key you need to use in case of every pair of cartridges. Empty cells are this one which should stay on basics settings for both cartridges. After every exchange you need to clone animals from both cartridges you used. It is not necessary to create combinations with exchanging of three or four features between cartridges, cause they are opposite to every exchange of one or two features that are listed in the table, so as a result you would get the same animals. After all this 15 exchanges in case of every pair of cartridges, you will get 30 clones, which after multiplication by 3 pairs (01 and 02, 02 and 03, 03 and 01) will get 90 jackalopes plus 3 cloned by using basics settings, so in total it will be 93. Then you need to clone 150 from every combination of three digits (1,2,3) just like it is written in the table with all possible variants. Good luck!
