Ranged Heroes Battlerite Guide
Last update: 25 January 2017
This type of Heroes are best at fighting over distance. Ranged characters usually stay behind their melee fighting allies, since the latter are tougher than they are. Using their skills usually requires a good eye and nice aiming, that is why playing them may be a little bit problematic at first. Using their ranged attacks they can weaken opponents significantly before getting close. This group includes: Iva, Jade, Ashka, Varesh and Taya.
Iva
Iva is a sort of a crazy inventor always willing try her inventions in combat. This is a ranged character, who avoids melee combat. In her arsenal she has got a rifle and a rocket launcher, among other things. She's got a surprise for just about everyone.
Hints
- Boomstick is Iva's basic attack. She fires off 4 bullets in a small cone, after which she has to reload. The bullets can be sent in different directions. This weapon works like a shotgun, therefore, the closer you get the more damage you deal.
- Rocket X-67 fires off a rocket in target direction, which causes damage upon hitting the target and explodes causing extra area damage. If you are aiming at a moving target you must take under consideration that there is a certain delay before the weapon launches. Targets affected by oil will be ignited and receive damage over time.
- Jet Pack adds to Iva's mobility. It can be used either offensively or defensively. While using the Jet Pack, Iva spills oil on targets below her slowing them down by 30% for 4 seconds. Jet Pack can also be used to surprise enemies - nobody expects a crazy inventor fly over a wall right into the heat of combat.
- Zap grants Iva a protective shield that absorbs damage. It also briefly increases her movement speed, which can come in handy while chasing someone or running away.
- Tazer is a very useful skill, which enables Iva to interrupt an opponent's action and stun them. This projectile has a pretty long range, so it can be fired off from a safe distance. It is mostly useful for preventing an enemy from using their Ultimate Skill.
- Tractor Beam drags a target to Iva and, interestingly, makes Iva invulnerable to any frontal damage. This can help her survive a tough situation, e.g. when you have to wait until an escape skill cools down or for an ally to arrive. If someone jumps at your back while you are using this skill, immediately cancel it and try backing off to a safe distance.
- Machine Gun fires off a series of penetrating bullets at target direction. Bullets that pierce the first target deal lower damage to other targets. This skill uses up energy. This one is useful for finishing off running targets, but in most cases it turns useless, since the Heroine is immobile while using it, which makes her prone to attacks from other directions.

Jade
Jade is a born gunslinger. Apart from her main weapons - two revolvers - she is equally skillful with a sniper rifle. In combat she uses various tricks, such as smoke covers or nimble dodges. She avoids melee combat, looking for ideal sniping positions instead.
Hints
- Revolver Shot is Jade's basic attack. She fires 6 bullets off her two revolvers, after which she has to reload. This skill hasn't got a very long range, so you need to learn how to use Jade's revolvers to maximum effectiveness.
- Snipe is a targeted skill. Jade takes a moment to aim with her sniper rifle, then fires a piercing bullet at a target. This skill has a 1-second cast time, so it takes a moment before the shot is fired. Unfortunately, when aiming Jade is vulnerable for enemy attacks. This, however, can be used as a bait - you can initiate the skill, wait for an opponent to get close to you and then you jump away to safety and continue shooting with your revolvers. This way you can get some extra time for your ally. If you want to use this skill safely, you should activate Stealth before taking a shot, so that no one could interrupt you while aiming.
- With Blast Vault Jade detonates a grenade, which deals damage to nearby enemies and stun them for a brief moment. After detonating a grenade Jade safely jumps away to a target location. This skill can be used for escaping or getting to a favorable position for taking a shot with the sniper rifle.
- Stealth is another skill that can guarantee Jade some safety. The Heroine hides in shadows for a short moment and becomes totally invisible to opponents. Stealth lets you evacuate from some real tight spots. It can also be used in the way described above with the sniper rifle.
- Disabling Shot can interrupt opponent's current action, which can be disastrous for them. For example, when an opponent starts casting his Ultimate Skill, you can interrupt it with Disabling Shot.
- Junk Shot fires bullets within a cone, which damage enemies and knock them back. It is useful when an enemy gets too close to your Heroine and starts attacking. You can knock them back with Junk Shot and immediately jump back using Blast Vault.
- Explosive Shells is what makes Jade a deadly threat to any opponent. The Heroine fires 4 exploding bullets, which not only damage the opponent they hit, but also explode into fragments and cause extra area damage. This way you can finish off an opponent who may avoid the shot but gets hit by the explosion anyway.

Ashka
Ashka is a masked pyromaniac. He wields black magic and has subjected the element of fire to his will. The hero always stays at the back and keeps harassing enemies with spells. Don't let his small size deceive you - there is great, untamed power in that small body.
Hints
- First of all, remember that this Hero's skills put Ignite effect on targets. When ignited, targets receive damage over time. This way you can practically neglect their active healing effects, since the target keeps losing health anyway by this debuff.
- Fireball is Ashka's basic attack. It fires a flaming bullet, which quickly flies toward target direction. Fireball has a pretty long range, which can help you keep an opponent at a distance.
- Fire Storm lets the Hero create 3 Fireball charges and launch them one at a time. Remember that while using this skill Ashka is standing in one place, so try to use it in a safe distance from opponents. If you find yourself in danger, just cancel casting the spell and back off to safety.
- Searing Flight is a skill used for creating a gap between you and your enemy or closing it. Upon landing the Hero deals damage in target location, but this is not a good way to start a fight, since Ashka is a poor melee fighter. Searing Flight is much better for running.
- Flamestrike creates a ring on the ground, which, after a short while, explodes taking damage and rooting the targets hit by it. This skill is really difficult to aim with, because of the long cast time and because the area it is going to hit is visible to opponents, so they can easily exit the range of fire. Because of this, it is more useful for separating enemies from important locations. They are unlikely to risk taking extra damage for collecting an orb.
- With Molten Fist Ashka quickly covers a short distance and knocks back enemies on the way as well as slow them down. This skill comes in handy while chasing a running opponent or for dodging incoming projectiles.
- Firewall creates a wall of fire in a target location, which absorbs incoming projectiles and ignites nearby enemies. Note that Ashka can fire bullets through the wall. The same is true for all allies who are just taking some rest behind the wall.
- Infernal Scorch transforms Ashka into a ball of magma. The Hero quickly moves into a selected direction while taking damage and igniting enemies on his way, as well as leaving a burning trace behind, which deals damage too. This skill also goes through walls, which can be a big surprise for enemies!

Varesh
Varesh is a spiritual being made of the energies of others clad in a heavy armor. He uses magic for dealing massive damage to his enemies or protect allies. His skills are designed so that he can be either offensive or supporting character.
Hints
- Hand of Corruption is this Hero's basic skill. Varesh fires projectiles that deal damage to enemies and heal Varesh. Moreover, they inflict Corruption on target, which decreases their healing effects by 15% and reduces their damage. This is an essential feature, which in the long term can save a lot of health for you and your teammates. Try to sustain the Corruption effect on your enemies for as long as you can.
- Hand of Judgement is another magic projectile. This one puts Judgement on your target. A Hero inflicted by it takes 15% more damage than normally. This works fine for maximizing damage on the target. If you want to quickly eliminate an enemy, this skill will surely come in handy. Interestingly, it does not have a cooldown, so you can use it at any time. The only disadvantage is a relatively long cast time.
- Inhibitor's Guard is a typical protective shield, which can be used on Varesh or any of his allies. This shield absorbs damage and expires after 2.5 seconds or taking a set amount of damage. Interestingly, you don't have to click directly on your ally in order to protect them with the shield - it's enough to put it nearby.
- Wuju is a countering skill. When activated, it counters the next melee or projectile attack that hits Varesh and teleports him behind the attacker's back. When Varesh gets behind the attacker's back they also get stunned. Note that Varesh won't materialize right behind an enemy, but in a certain distance, at which he can continue the attack.
- Shatter is a very important skill, which consumes effects put by Varesh: Corruption and Judgement. Depending on which effect is consumed Varesh can have some health restored or deal extra damage as well as silence the target, making them unable to use skills. This skill has a short cooldown and deals area damage. This skill can use up to 2 charges.
- Reform transfers Varesh into a target location. After materializing Varesh deals area damage and consumes Corruption and Judgement the same way as with Shutter. This skill has a long cooldown, which makes it easy to get interrupted. Using Reform you can materialize behind a wall and surprise your opponents.
- Powers Combined is this Hero's ultimate skill. Varesh dematerializes and moves towards target direction. He deals damage to all enemies on his way and puts both Corruption and Judgement on them. Varesh can use this skill up to 3 times provided that he hits at least one opponent with it each time.

Taya
Taya is an agile huntress, who uses a razor sharp boomerang. Having covered a designated distance the boomerang flies back to Taya - this way it can deal twice as much damage with just one throw. She prefers fighting over distance, because unlike other Heroes, she cannot move while performing her basic attack. She also has skills that allow her to escape quickly.
Hints
- Razor Boomerang is the Heroine's basic skill. Taya throws a boomerang in a target direction, which flies back to her hand after having covered its maximum distance. Remember that while casting the boomerang Taya cannot move. Until the boomerang goes back to her hand she cannot fire another projectile. Try to position the Heroine so that the boomerang could hit as many opponents as possible or at least hit the same target twice.
- X Strike lets Taya throw two boomerangs that cross each other's paths at one time and can stun selected targets. The boomerangs' path has the shape of an arc, so initially it may be problematic for you to aim. Don't get discouraged though, because when you finally master X Strike Taya changes from a a mere huntress into a deadly assassin.
- Haste removes all movement impairing effects, increases movement speed and makes it possible to use Razor Boomerang while moving at an extra damage. While normally you can only throw one boomerang at the same time, with this skill active you can fire two.
- Wind Strike is a quick attack, which deals area damage around the character and knocks enemies back for a small distance, which gives you time for throwing another boomerang or use Haste.
- Wind Bomb creates a whirl on a selected area and draws nearby enemies into its center. This skill can make it much easier for you to aim with X Strike.
- Tornado is an excellent skill for crowd control. You can use it on an opponent to make them temporarily lose control over their Hero or put it on your ally making them impossible to be targeted. Moreover, the ally will be able to choose to leave the tornado wherever they want. Wind Strike can also be used on Taya.
- Companion Call summons your mount, which dashes toward you from afar and knocks back all enemies on its way. When Taya gets on the mount, she receives a protective shield for 5 seconds. While the shield is up Taya throws mush faster and stronger boomerangs and, what's important, she can throw than one boomerang at a time! This way you can spray with your basic skill, thus dealing massive damage.

Jumong
Jumong is the ultimate hunter. After hunting down all the biggest beasts and getting all the most worthy trophies, he decided to shift his hunting ground for Battlerite Arenas. Jumong is a ranged character, able to deal massive damage.
Hints
- Hunting Arrow is this Hero's basic ability. Jumong uses his bow to deal damage over distance, and each hit adds one charge to the weapon. After stacking all charges Jumong can immediately use Steady Shot or Black Arrow, regardless of their cooldown. It is worth remembering, because this way you can increase overall damage.
- Steady Shot is a projectile that flies over a great distance. This ability takes a lot of damage - up to 28 points - but unfortunately, has a long cast time. If target is moving, you must predict where they are going to be in a moment and aim there. This may be a little bit problematic at first, but practice makes master.
- Black Arrow is a skill useful for dodging projectiles or closing a gap between you and your opponent. Jumong fires an arrow, then dashes in that same direction, while becoming immaterial for a moment. Interestingly, if you react quickly and change the direction by clicking somewhere with the mouse, you can dash back or to a side.
- Prowl makes Jumong immaterial for a moment and grants him movement speed bonus. If he runs through an enemy in the duration of the ability, he inflicts Seeker's Mark on them. Hitting such targets with Hunting Arrow or Steady Shot puts Incapacitate on them. This is good for interrupting an opponent's action.
- Bear Trap is a trap that Roots targets within its range. This can help you stop enemies pursuing your ally or harass them by making them stuck in one place.
- Rain of Arrows brings a Rain of Arrows on target area, which deal damage and slow enemies. This ability can be used effectively for keeping enemies at distance. Note that this can be used on the other side of walls.
- Dragon Slayer is this Hero's Ultimate Ability. Jumong is pulling the chord of his bow for up to 2 seconds, thus increasing its damage and distance. Targets can be nailed to a wall and Stunned.
