General information about achievements in Void Bastards
- There is a total of 24 achievements that you can unlock in the game. They are the same on the PC and Xbox One version of the game.
- In the case of the Xbox One version, unlocking a set of achievements is rewarded with 1000 Gamescore points.
- You should be able to unlock half of the achievements while playing the game for the first time. We speak here about the achievements related with crafting story items, obtaining new items of equipment or performing certain interactions on the map of the nebula.
- The most problematic are the achievements related with completing the game in certain circumstances or according to a specified rules like on a high level of difficulty or with the included gameplay modifiers. In order to get all the achievements you must have a lot of skill and complete the main campaign many times.
Bodge Job
Gamerscore: 10
How to unlock: Craft an upgrade.
Commentary: This is just a simple achievement concerning the basics of the crafting system. Thanks to visiting subsequent ships with the nebula map you can earn loot and gain Parts along with other items.
Find one or more parts needed to craft any item in the Workbench menu which you visit in between missions. For example, as shown in our image we have crafted a gadget called Bushwhacker. But you can craft any other item from the Workbench window.
Tooled Up
Gamerscore: 10
How to unlock: Upgrade the Regulator weapon.
Commentary: For this achievement you need to craft a Hefty Regulator, i.e. upgrade the "starting" pistol called Regulator. You need a Metal Tube part to do that.
It is best to just visit enemy ships until you find one of these. In addition, you can personally craft a Metal Tube, but it needs 80 pieces of Slag (one of the materials for crafting).
Trainspotter
Gamerscore: 20
How to unlock: Craft all updates.
Commentary: This is a much more difficult version of Bodge Job achievement, because you have to fill in the entire table in the Workbench menu with all available projects. In addition, some projects are multi-stage (for example. improved varieties of firearms). You have to unlock all the available updates.
Part Locater project will help you to unlock this achievement much faster. After you buy it, you can switch to the Locate Mode (example shown in the image) and select some undetected project in it. From now on, the game on the map of the nebula will mark the ships on which you can find the details necessary to craft this project.
It is very likely that you will be able to complete the campaign before you unlock all the upgrades. This, however, does not preclude the chances of getting the achievement. After you have watched the final video and returned to the main menu, select Continue. You will return to the moment before crafting the last story related item. Don't start a new campaign because it will remove progress from the previous one.
Specially Selected
Gamerscore: 10
How to unlock: Get killed by pirates.
Commentary: This is the easiest achievement to get throughout the game, and in addition, you cannot miss it. The controlled character will be killed by pirates in the final part of the prologue and this is part of the tutorial. You can't fight with pirates in the prologue, because the character does not have any ammunition for the gun.
Staff Turnover
Gamerscore: 10
How to unlock: Provide water to the second customer.
Commentary: The description of this trophy is mysterious, but fortunately it is not difficult. The prisoner, on whom you take control after completion of the prologue has to die. You can intentionally cause such situation already in the first mission, or simply get the achievement in the process of passing the game (sooner or later you will make some mistake, and your character will die).
Death in Void Bastards (with Ironman mode off by default) does not mean the end of the game. Another prisoner from the Ark will have to take the quest and continue the journey through the nebula. The achievement will be unlocked immediately after you take control over the new prisoner.
Swanning Around
Gamerscore: 10
How to unlock: Use S. T. E. V. and get to Nebula Depth 2.
Commentary: This is an achievement you should easily get while playing the game. S. T. E. V. spacecraft will reach the second level of the nebula depth, which has more difficult challenges.
Brown Noser
Gamerscore: 50
How to unlock: Craft a Citizen Card.
Commentary: This is one of the achievements that you may unlock during your progress with the game's campaign. It's impossible to miss.
Citizen Card is one of several "quest items". You can craft it from the parts taken from the ships visited during the exploration of the nebula. Go to the Story Items section of our guide to find more details about the parts required to craft them or how to obtain them.
Human Resource
Gamerscore: 50
How to unlock: Craft a HR Computer.
Commentary: This is one of the achievements that you may unlock during your progress with the game's campaign. It's impossible to miss.
HR Computer is one of several "quest items". You can craft it from the parts taken from the ships visited during the exploration of the nebula. Go to the Story Items section of our guide to find more details about the parts required to craft them or how to obtain them.
Chilled Out
Gamerscore: 50
How to unlock: Craft a Water Cooling system.
Commentary: This is one of the achievements that you may unlock during your progress with the game's campaign. It's impossible to miss.
Water-Cooling is one of several "quest items". You can craft it from the parts taken from the ships visited during the exploration of the nebula. Go to the Story Items section of our guide to find more details about the parts required to craft them or how to obtain them.
Software Pirate
Gamerscore: 50
How to unlock: Build the Transmitter.
Commentary: This is one of the achievements that you may unlock during your progress with the game's campaign. It's impossible to miss.
Transmitter is one of several "quest items". You can craft it from the parts taken from the ships visited during the exploration of the nebula. Go to the Story Items section of our guide to find more details about the parts required to craft them or how to obtain them.
Sorted
Gamerscore: 200
How to unlock: Escape from the nebula.
Commentary: This achievement is awarded for completing the game. It is impossible to miss and will be provided regardless of the difficulty level selected at the very beginning of the game.
To complete the campaign you need to build the last fifth quest item - Reg Certificate. As soon as you return for the last time on the Ark, the final cutscene will be activated.
You can continue the campaign after unlocking this achievement. You don't have to wait to get it if you still have other things to do (e.g. to build all the updates and upgrades).
Cooking with Gas
Gamerscore: 50
How to unlock: Escape from the nebula on hard difficulty.
Commentary: Theoretically, this achievement can be obtained for completing the game for the first time. However, we do not recommend to choose hard difficulty level. It is better to learn the game well on one of the lower difficulty settings.
Cor Blimey!
Gamerscore: 50
How to unlock: Escape from the nebula on the hard bastard difficulty level.
Commentary: This is an even more difficult achievement than Cooking with Gas. HARD BASTARD is the highest level of difficulty. Choosing it for a first gaming experience is extremely impractical.
Coffin Dodger
Gamerscore: 50
How to unlock: Escape from the nebula without dying on NORMAL difficulty or HARD.
Commentary: Of course, you should choose the NORMAL difficulty level, as it is much easier to keep the character alive. If you want to "cheat" with saves, please check the How to save the game? section of our guide. In it, we have described the technique of performing a backup of save games which is available only for the PC version.
Here are some more universal tips:
- Play very carefully and run away from enemy ships when hero's health drops to about 200 points.
- The priority is to find as much food as possible and visit ships with healing stations.
- Avoid whales because a direct contact with them can end up with instant death.
- Try to avoid locations with bosses and other stronger opponents. Don't take unnecessary risks.
- Think about obtaining crafting parts of several story items to reduce the overall time of the entire campaign.
- Try to quickly find spare parts for the project Heart Starter. It can bring the character back to life in the event of his death so you don't lose the chance to unlock the achievement.
Off the Hook
Gamerscore: 50
How to unlock: Escape from the nebula without death on the hard bastard difficulty level.
Commentary: This is (much) more difficult version of the Coffin Dodger achievement. If you can't or don't want to cheat with save backups, then you have to play even more carefully and focus more on getting to the campaign finale as quickly as possible.
Mahatma
Gamerscore: 50
How to unlock: Escape from the nebula on NORMAL difficulty level with the UNARMED modifier enabled.
Commentary: UNARMED modifier allows you to change the rules of playing a new campaign. You can select it when you start a new game (Restriction bar), but it will only be available if you have completed Void Bastards at least once.
The limitation linked to this achievement blocks access to all weapons and gadgets. Only a few projects will be available in the workshop menu (picture above), including those related to passive capabilities and options for re-programming turrets and bots. Playing with a defenseless character, of course, significantly increases the level of challenge. You need to pay more attention to reconnaissance (enemies, turrets, cameras, etc.), withdraw from dangerous areas or run a lot.
Squaddie
Gamerscore: 50
How to unlock: Escape from the nebula on the NORMAL difficulty with ONLY FIREARMS modifier enabled.
Commentary: ONLY FIREARMS modifier allows you to change the rules of playing a new campaign. You can select it when you start a new game (Restriction bar), but it will only be available if you have completed Void Bastards at least once.
The limitation linked to this achievement only lets you use the firearms. You cannot use gadgets from the category Indirect and Devices (including Zapper). The lack of gadgets, of course, affects game's difficulty level. Try to develop projects that will help in improving weapons and increasing their damage. As a rule, however, avoid confrontation at any cost. In the case of hostile security systems you have to quickly destroy the camera, or hack computers in the premises of the SEC room.
Guy Fawkes
Gamerscore: 50
How to unlock: Escape from the nebula on NORMAL difficulty level with the ONLY INDIRECT modifier enabled.
Commentary: ONLY INDIRECT modifier allows you to change the rules of playing a new campaign. You can select it when you start a new game (Restriction bar), but it will only be available if you have completed Void Bastards at least once.
The limitation associated with this achievement is that only gadgets from the Indirect group are available. We are talking specifically about various types of grenades, such as Bushwhacker, Banger or Clusterflack. You cannot use firearms or Devices group items (including Zapper). Lack of access to them obviously increases the level of difficulty of the game. Try to develop projects that improve gadgets and increase their damage. As a rule, however, avoid confrontation at any cost. Since you can't sabotage the cameras, avoid detection or try to get into SEC rooms to hack computers.
Clever Dick
Gamerscore: 50
How to unlock: Escape from the nebula on NORMAL difficulty level with the ONLY DEVICES modifier enabled.
Commentary: ONLY DEVICES Modifier allows you to change the rules of the game in a new campaign. You can select it when you start a new game (Restriction bar), but it will only be available if you have completed Void Bastards at least once.
The limitation associated with this achievement is that only devices in the Devices group are shared. This is primarily a Zapper, which should be unlocked and upgraded at very first. In the same category are, in particular, Kittybot or Scrambler. You cannot use firearms and gadgets (grenades) from the Indirect group. Lack of access to them obviously increases the level of difficulty of the game. We advise you to run with Zapper all the time and use it to stun the most serious threats. Take other gadgets to the missions only if you have exhausted your supplies of charges to Zapper. Don't forget the Zap Hunter project, which will help you to find more ammunition.
Penny Pincher
Gamerscore: 50
How to unlock: Escape from the nebula at NORMAL difficulty level without crafting any additional upgrades.
Commentary: This is difficult to achieve. In order to get it, you cannot produce or craft any additional item from the above image of the main workbench area. You have to play through the whole game relying on the Regulator gun. Also, you have to bypass opponents a lot.
You can only create four quest items (Action Items), i.e.:
- Citizen Card
- HR Computer
- Water Cooling
- Transmitter
- Reg Certificate
Kippers for Breakfast
Gamerscore: 20
How to unlock: Blow up the Void Whale.
Commentary: Void Whale can be encountered during your journey through the nebula. You can blow up this giant creature only if you have at least one Torpedo. Get on the same field as the whale and the torpedo will be automatically launched to kill it.
Torpedoes are found in some of the investigated ships (including TUBES rooms). Read more about eliminating whales on the How to deal with whales? page of our guide.
Mingin
Gamerscore: 20
How to unlock: Catch the garbage collector.
Commentary: Garbage Collector randomly appear on the map of the nebula - an example is shown in the image.
Since there is a high risk that the Garbage Collector may escape before you approach it, try to use the Warp Key. This allows you to quickly navigate to the area where the collector is located. The achievement will be obtained in the moment of hitting the collector. The game will also inform you about the type of crafting part you have acquired.
Shiver Their Timbers
Gamerscore: 20
How to unlock: Survive the encounter with the pirates.
Commentary: Pirates can appear in the area when you travel through the nebula. Let them approach the ship you control and dock anywhere.
When you will be transferred to a new map, you may encounter the pirates. You don't have to kill them all. The main thing is to get rid of the Tether, which prevents the completion of the mission (example is shown in the image). You unlock the achievement after a successful "meeting" with the pirates.

Pawnshop
Gamerscore: 20
How to unlock: Get the loot from Pupbot.
Commentary: Pupbot - is a small and defenseless robot in the form of a mouse, which you may face during the study of enemy ships - an example is shown in the attached image.
The game informs you about the possibility of encountering a Pupbot in the description of the enemy ship on the nebula map (example in the picture).
You have to start chasing the Pupbot and shoot at it. After the machine will lose the entire health bar it's going to stop. Go to the destroyed Pupbot and press the interaction key to search it and get loot (you should get some random crafting parts).
After you get the achievement, Popbot will still spawn. They are still worth hunting for, including their more "elite" Muttbot varieties, which can carry even more valuable parts.
