Action Items in Void Bastards Void Bastards guide, tips
Last update: 13 June 2019
On this page of the guide to Void Bastards, you will find a complete set of information on how to unlock Action Items. This is not a traditional walkthrough, because the whole goal of the campaign is to make five unique items that will help you get out of the nebula.

General information about the campaign
- In Void Bastards, you don't complete any quests, encounter NPCs, and perform other similar actions.
- The whole campaign focuses on creating 5 Action Items - Citizen Card, HR Computer, Water Cooling, Transmitter and Reg Certificate. You craft them in the order in which they are listed here.
- The description found below is focused exclusively on how to craft Action Items. To create them you need crafting parts - there a few different ways in which you can get them.
- Once you create the last fifth Action Item, you will be able to leave the nebula and finish the story.
- Void Bastards is a game with roguelike elements and this means that it is characterized by a high level of randomness. Each campaign can look different because some of the parts won't be on the same ships every time you play. It may also happen that you will be able to craft them.
- No need to hurry with crafting the Action Items. We recommend going through the campaign slowly. It is worth visiting as many ships as possible and get other parts, too. You will use them to complete other additional projects (for example, new weapons, or bonuses to statistics).
- Some story items and "regular" blueprints have common parts. The game will warn you about the possibility of using an important crafting part (example in the picture). We advise to build Action Items first and then look for the same parts again to craft regular blueprints.
How to craft an Action Item?
Below you can find a list of all the actions that are necessary for crafting an Action Item. The way you craft them is identical for all five Action Items. As a result, you can use our hints to build each of the 5 Action Items required to complete the campaign.
Start by visiting the Workbench menu. The current Action Item is displayed on the right. When you hover over it, you will get information about 2 or 3 different crafting parts, which are necessary for the assembly (the parts are different for each Action Item).
Crafting parts can be acquired in two ways. The first way is to find ready-made parts on enemy ships (in the form of loot), that is, those that can immediately be used to make an Action Item.
The game will mark on the nebula map an example of an enemy ship with the part you are looking for. No need to rush to get to this ship. You can safely visit other ships along the way and collect parts that are not related to the "main plot".
After docking the ship, concentrate on finding the desired crafting part. You can help yourself by visiting HELM room - all the crafting parts will be marked on the map with big stars. Once you get the part, don't risk with further exploration. Go back to the S.T.E.V. ship immediately.
Of course, it is very likely that you will not be able to find the part or die while searching. If this happens, the game will mark another ship with the same part. You won't lose your chance to complete the game, you will only spend more time on the campaign.
The second way to get crafting parts is to produce them yourself. You must go to the Parts tab and find the part in the list. When you hover over it, you will receive information about the required amount of Materials. Action Items are, unfortunately, "expensive" - you need to spend a lot of Materials on them.
You have to play until you collect all the crafting parts. You can then go to the Workbench menu and click on the Action Item.
The game will ask you to confirm the decision because you need to go back to the Ark to craft an Action Item. You can delay the completion of a project if, for example, you want to visit other ships in the currently explored part of the nebula.
After returning to the Ark, the game will play a cut-scene. From it, you will learn about the next Action Item - go to the Workbench menu to check its requirements (3 new crafting parts).
As a reward for crafting a quest item the game will always give you a part for crafting and a pack with supplies (fuel, food, credits, ammo and gadgets).
After returning to the workbench you will be able to review the requirements of the next quest item that has to be manufactured (3 new crafting parts).
