A contented society that can meet its needs will treat you favorably and attract more people to the region. Below you will find tips that will help you increase Standard of Living.
Increasing Standard of Living
The standard of living of citizens is closely related to their wealth. The general rule is that if a particular community (Pop) can satisfy all of its needs by buying the desired goods and still has spare funds, the level of wealth rises.
To increase the Standard of Living you should:
- Adjust wages and taxes so that the Pop can meet their needs.
- Give Pop free access to desired goods and services through production within the country and import from other countries.
You can set the tax levels and military and government officials' salaries in the Budget tab.
You can also increase your general salary by subsidizing certain facilities. To do this, go to the Buildings section, select the item you are interested in and click on an icon of a pound with a plus.
Importing specific goods is possible by creating new Trade Routes. You can do it using Trade Lens in the Import Trade Routes tab. For more information, see How to create Trade Routes? page of our guide.
The richer Pop, the greater their needs will be, which will become more and more difficult to satisfy. Wealthy society is more willing to buy luxury goods, and these may be expensive to import and difficult to produce.
Minimum Standard of Living
Each community also has a minimum Standard of Living that is willing to accept to function in the country. You can check the information on this by hovering the cursor over the ear icon located just below the capacities.
The Minimum Expected Standard of Living varies according to social class, literacy, and the technologies developed. When a given community does not reach the appropriate level, it will begin to radicalize and openly oppose the authorities.
