Below, you will find a list of tips that will help you when exploring the world of UnderRail. Some of them may seem obvious, but are certainly worth remembering.

1. When you try to steal something from shelves, cupboards, chests, etc., you have to be careful for cameras and patrols. If you take an item when there is an NPC nearby, you will be attacked.

2. Soldiers in heavy armors are immune to fist attacks.

3. If you try to pickpocket and you see a red bar near a particular item, don't steal it because you will be caught for sure. Try some other time.

4. When stealing, mind the level of the character from whom you steal. The lower the level, the less valuable will be the items that you find.

5. Check all the barrels, cupboards, shelves, piles of trash, etc. You never know when you will find something useful.

6. The doctor on the sixth floor can always heal you. It doesn't cost you anything, but you have to spend the time going back to him.

7. If you have trouble setting the direction, use the compass.

8. You can make use of gates and narrow passages when fighting with multiple enemies. You can position yourself in such a way that you will only have to fight one enemy at a time.

9. Don't let the enemies circle you during a battle.

10. Broken equipment is much less useful so remember about doing repairs regularly.

11. When exploring the map, toggle names (Tab) so that you don't miss any cupboard or chest where you could find something useful.

12. Use the quick save (F5) and quick load option (F9), especially before a fight. If something goes wrong, you can easily go back and play the fight differently.

13. It is always better to manually enter battle mode (Enter) than to let the enemy start it, because you will lose the surprise element.

14. If you hide in the dark and allow the enemy to go past you, you can avoid a battle.

15. Reload your weapon after every fight if you have few bullets in your magazine. Don't waste AP on reloading during the battle.

16. If you have trouble aiming at a target standing behind a wall, press Tab and Z simultaneously to highlight it.

17. If you have too much items in your inventory, you can always leave some in your private quarters. Put the items into a drawer in your desk, cupboards or into the chest near the bed.

18. Before you sell a weapon, first check whether you can earn more by first repairing it. Save the game, buy the tools and check how much you earn for the transaction. If it is not worth it, load the game and sell the weapon without repairing it.
