This chapter focuses on The Town, one of the locations in The Witness. This place has puzzles featured in other locations. On this page, you will find general information about the puzzles and the locations of various objects. Check Puzzle solutions to get solutions for the puzzles found in this area.
This location is in the very center of the isle, Southwards of logging, Westwards of Monastery and East of Orchard. It is easy to recognize by the tall, devastated buildings. Here, you find all of the types of puzzles from the isle, which is why it is a good idea to go there at the very end.
First of all, fix the misdirected laser in the Sun temple. The reflective panel is atop the ruined tower.
You control the panel by means of a simple puzzle. Solve it and check out where it has been directed. If you do it wrong, make corrections. This puzzle is simple and all it requires is time.
After you point the laser to the correct direction, go to the nearby building. On the wall, there are five panels.
All of them are combinations of puzzles from Marsh and Rock. You need to draw appropriate shapes on the panel. These puzzles are time-consuming, rather than difficult.
Atop the building, you find another panel. Draw the line so that has the white and the yellow elements neutralize each other. This way, you open tower door. Your task in this location is to open them all. You find the laser on the top.
Climb down and go to the building with container on the roof.
Now you have to solve another puzzle. This time, you need to draw the line in a way that pairs up stars and matches the symbols above. After you do this, stand in front of the door and look at the door into the neighboring house, across the window. You notice change in color of the stars on the panel, on that house. Take this down.
After you learn the arrangement of colors, solve the puzzle. Then backtrack.
Arrangement of the planks hints you on the solution.
After that, go to the building with the ruined roof. Go to the back of the house. There, you find a door.
The puzzle on the door requires entering the building. Look on the ground. Walk between columns and note where flooring is different and how. The fields that concern you are those with no grass on them, even if you cannot walk over them. Solving the puzzle lowers the stairs behind the door.
On the top, you need to draw a shape that encloses all three elements. The solution requires toy to draw the line to the right-hand finishing point. All in all, The brick in the middle forms passage to the rooftop of the neighboring building.
At the other side, there are five simple puzzles that require you to separate white fields from the black ones, using two beams.
While still on the roof, look left of the puzzles. You discover a hint for the next puzzle. Jot it down, or remember it. Soon, you will be back here.
Go to the pier and from there, head towards the path. On your left, there is another puzzle.
To solve it, you need to match two beams with the surroundings.
The next puzzle requires you to match the path with the shadow.
The hint for the puzzle is right in front of it.
Another puzzle may seem difficult, because there is only one starting point and multiple finishing ones.
To discover the correct one, look at the tree on the left.
You find the next puzzle in the neighboring building. This panel has several starting points and ending points, because it allows you to light up three wires. Beams need to be directed over appropriate paths, and this is the only requirement.
To determine the path for the beams, look at the panel. Branches point to two paths. By one of them, follow shadows, whereas in the case of the other avoid them. You learn the third path after you climb to the rooftop. After you have set all three paths, climb to the roof and solve the red puzzle. If you have not been taking notes, return to the building with five puzzles on the roof and solve the puzzle there.
After that, climb to the top of the tower and activate the laser.
