David decides to go through with his plan. Time for a first major choice found in this episode. Your brother asks you if you would take care of his family during his absence:
- You can count on me - Agreeing to take care of David's family will result in better relations with Kate and Gabriel.
- That's your responsibility - Refuse, saying that it his responsibility. This will result in frigid relations with the whole family.
The choice marks the end of the flashback - you are back in jail.

Regardless of how you led the conversation, David will be taken, leaving you alone in the cell. Follow the steps below to escape the containment:
- Approach the sink and grab the pipe underneath
- Proceed to the grated window and take a look
- Climb to the bench next to the lockers
- Make your way left and pick up the chair
If you've performed all actions, you'll encounter Kate (or Gabriel) who will help you escape the prison, ending chapter one.
