Mining in Outward - How to get the Mining Pick? Outward Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 26 March 2019
Digging ore in Outward is one of the ways of acquiring materials for crafting - thanks to the acquisition of raw materials you will be able to create new items. When you dig ore, you also have a chance to find gems. In this section, you will learn where to find the Mining Pick and how to use it for mining.
How to get the Mining Pick?
You can get the Mining Pick at the very beginning of the game, namely in the city of Cierzo. After exiting the Lighthouse, go over the cliff towards the central part of the location. When you look towards the water, you will see a long bridge leading to a wooden door - that's where you have to go.
The doors will lead you to the Cierzo Storage site. In the initial part of the location there are no enemies, so you can move freely here. To get the pickaxe, follow the available road and then turn left into the dark cave - you will find the Mining Pick there. If you are just starting the game, do not continue to explore the cave, because there are several enemies further down. However, you should look for the illuminated part of the site because you will find several items there, including the Gaberry Jam recipe.
How to use the Mining Pick?
To extract raw materials, you must first find ore (for example, iron). Ores are scattered all over the world, so you can find them not only in dungeons but also on the surface. Once you have found the ore, approach it and hold the key shown on the screen. If you have a Mining Pick in your inventory, the character will extract the raw material. Most often, these will be the core resources (for example, pieces of iron), but you also have a chance to get valuable gems that can be sold. For example, iron ore can be used to craft a Medium Ruby worth 60 silver.
The extracted materials can be sold or used for crafting. If you want to get more information about crafting in Outward, go to the "Crafting" page in our tutorial.
