Death in Outward Outward Guide and Walkthrough
Last update: 29 March 2019
Death in Outward is "not the end" of the road. If you lose all your precious health points in Outward you will not die - your character will be stunned and moved to another location. After "death" you can be sent to dungeons, in which they will deprive you of all your equipment and health. You can also find a wanderer who can take you to his camp and heal your wounds.
If you play with someone on the team, the situation is much easier. All you need to do is to revive your companions and allow them to continue playing.
- What can I lose?
- Where will I spawn?
- Can I continue active missions?
- How does death affect my character?
What can I lose?
In Outward, death can cost you everything. When you die, you lose your backpack. Usually, this item spawns near the place where your character has reappeared. However, your backpack can be guarded by a group of bandits. It is also possible that your backpack will miss some items.
If some items are missing from your backpack, you will never get them back.
Where will I spawn?
This is partially random. Your spawning location depends on where you have died. Also, the way you died has a huge impact on your spawning location.
If you are killed by a wild animal, you will spawn near a town's gate or inside a cave.
If you are killed by humans, you will spawn in a bandits' camp or in a prison. Overall, animals will cause you fewer problems.
Human enemies can take some of your items and resources. Also, escaping from a prison requires a bit of effort.
Can I continue active missions?
In the majority of the cases, death doesn't affect active main or side quests. The only thing you can worry about is the fact that time will pass. A few hours can pass between your "death" and "revival". If one of your quests had a time limit, it is probable that you will fail it.
How does death affect my character?
It all depends on your luck. Your character can "revive" in full strength, with its needs satisfied and without any diseases. However, your character can also revive with a large dose of poison in their bloodstream or with heavy wounds. React fast or your character will die.
