Sony Employees Get a Hefty Bonus for PS5
PS5 sales have remained at record levels for months. More than 4.5 million units were purchased in 2020 alone, and Sony wants to produce another 18 million in 2021. This will benefit Japanese company's employees, who will receive hefty bonuses due to the good sales of the 9th-gen console.
- Sony employees responsible for the PS5 console can look forward to huge bonuses. The extra pay is expected to be the equivalent of seven months' salary for staff based in Japan;
- Sales of the PS5 console continue to increase. Currently, the PS5 is beating demand for the latest Xbox Series X by more than double;
- Sony announced that it aims to produce another 18 million units of the 9th-gen console in 2021 alone.
"The pandemic is not as bad as they paint it" would be a great summary of the sales of the PS5 console, which breaks all records. Sony is already preparing for the production of several million copies of its latest product to reach the waiting fans. Recent months have clearly shown that the 9th-gen console from Sony is one of the most lucrative businesses in the history of gaming. And it will benefit not only the management, but also all employees from Japan, who can expect a huge bonus.
Only in 2020 about 4.5 million copies of the PS5 were sold. Interest in the console, however, is not waning. And although players have been seeing empty shelves in stores for months, Sony is not slowing down to deliver the hardware to all corners of the world as soon as possible. One of the reasons for the shortages are delays in the supply of components. However, this does not change the fact that the Japanese staff can expect considerable bonuses, which, like the sales of console, are breaking records. It is said to be the equivalent of seven months of wages for Sony employees in Japan.
Reports presented by Sony show that in the last quarter of 2020, the company recorded its highest revenue ever - $8.45 billion. Despite the ongoing delays in PS5 deliveries, they can boast of excellent results, as NHK reports that Sony will probably announce a profit of up to $10 billion any day now.
Sony has decided to cut back on PS5 inventory in Japan. Instead, the concern focused on maximizing sales in the West. This definitely paid off and had a direct impact on the board's decision to award the bonus.
