A fan discovered a completely battered PS1 display from the 90s and turned it into something every PlayStation player would love to own
Breathing new life into retro gaming memorabilia should be rewarded with a top-tier gamer badge.

Restoration videos are seriously addictive – who doesn’t love watching something old and worn-out get a fresh start? With the right tools and a ton of skill, people can make anything look brand new, from classic cars to vintage furniture. But this treasure hunter took things to a whole new level and created something truly special and nostalgic.
A PlayStation relic resurrected
Thrift stores are great (just look at what this lucky guy found in one!), but if you don’t have any good ones nearby, online hunting is the way to go. It’s not just eBay and Amazon, there are plenty of online auctions full of hidden gems. And Reddit user United-Background431 hit the jackpot with something seriously amazing.
He found an almost 30-year-old PlayStation 1 display lightbox, or at least, what was left of it. It was basically just the frame with a few missing panels, but the front and side PlayStation logos were still in good shape.
A few fresh coats of paint, some LED strips, new panels, and boom – a perfect living room lamp was ready to go. But unfortunately, this massive 51-inch beast was just too big for his space, so he had to put it up on eBay.
It’s not the first time that United-Background431 has stumbled upon an old goodie, he’s also brought a Sony Walkman back to life and even restored a 1960s tape recorder to its former glory. Finding forgotten tech and giving it a second chance is a time well spent.
