The bow is very helpful during hunting. It allows you to deal damage from a greater distance than a spear, which is especially useful with skittish animals. You'll also need it to do some quests. There are three types of bows in the game, differing in range and price, the number of raw materials needed to craft it, and the technology to unlock. At first, the most accessible will be a bow. There are three ways you can get it.:
- Stealing
- Buying
- Crafting
The easiest way to steal a bow. With time, you're going to need more of them to complete quests, so you're going to have to start making them eventually.
How to steal a bow?
The bow can be found in a chest, in a Hunting Lodge, near the village of Branica. It's a pretty isolated place, so no one should catch you stealing it. You won't be able to sell this bow to local traders, and the supply of arrows will be modest at the beginning.
The Hunting Lodge is located west of the village of Branica, near a cluster of huts.
In the chest, you'll find a bow and five arrows.
How to buy a bow?
You can by bows from hunter Sambor. You will get to him during the Uniegost Story I and Alvin Story IV, but only before the quest with Alvin, the bow will be required. The bow costs 200 coins (or 500 for a better Long Bow). Sambor resides in the northeast. Be careful, because there are often wolves near his headquarters. Always have a few spears ready for such an expedition.
Sambor can be found at the top of the map.
For the cheapest bow, you have to pay 200 pieces of gold.
How to craft a bow?
The alternative way to get a bow is to craft it by hand. However, to do this, you'll need to have the right equipment and raw materials. It is a long process, but fortunately, different quests require different stages of it, so it'll be spread in time.
First of all, you have to build a Hunting Lodge, because that's the only place where you can build guns. This is one of the stages of Into the Wilderness IV quest. Learn more about building construction from the Building section.
In the Technology and Survival section, you have to buy a bow scheme for 50 coins.
To craft the bow, you will need a log, which you can harvest from every tree using an ax, and a Linen Thread, which you probably won't be able to craft at this point. You can buy it from Unigost in the nearby village of Gostovia for 100 coins.
With a log and thread, you can head to the crafting station in your hunting lodge.
After activating the station with the E button, select the bow. However, the weapon itself is useless without arrows. You can buy them from Sambor, craft them, or receive them as a reward for completing the Alvin Story IV quest. For more information, see: How to get arrows to a bow?
