Last update: 16 October 2020
This section of the Medieval Dynasty guide has various basic tips for the game and its mechanics. They will help you get into a world where everything takes a lot of time, and bad decisions can make this even longer.
- How to start?
- Complete side quests
- Collect and sell sticks, mushrooms, berries
- Carry three spears with you
- You can cross the river
- Choose a place for a house and settlement
How to start?
Head north to the nearby village to begin your first quest. You will have to harvest some resources, cut down trees, create an axe, and build your home. For starters, you will need rocks and sticks. Watch your steps. Sticks can be found almost everywhere – you can even collect twigs of small trees. Rocks are much harder to find. Look for them around the village under the fence, both in the sand and grass.
Collect 10 sticks and 2 rocks to make an axe, which is essential for getting logs. These, in turn, are the basic building materials for most buildings and objects.
Press the Q key and select the crafting option on the left.
Then click on the Stone axe icon.
If you have more rocks and sticks in the inventory, you can press R instead of clicking to immediately craft several items at once. To do this, set the number with the Q, A, D, E keys, and then confirm by pressing F or clicking on Accept.
You can now cut down trees and then chop them into logs. For detailed information about constuctions, see the Building section.
Complete side quests
Talk to the villagers marked with an exclamation point icon. These characters will give you various small side quests, usually easy to complete, for which you can receive not only money, food, or resources, but, above all, dynasty reputation points.
Collect and sell sticks, mushrooms, berries
All small and light items like sticks or mushrooms can be collected in large quantities – you can have over 100 of them in your inventory. This is a good source of income in the early hours of the game. You can sell them in large quantities to merchants in villages. With the right supply of rocks, you can also make knives and axes, which will result in a higher price per item. However, the profits gained in this way take more time.
Carry three spears with you
Wooden spears are your first main hunting tool. They are made from logs and it is always worth having at least three pieces with you. First, spears get destroyed quickly. Second, three are enough to kill even the most dangerous animals encountered while you are walking through a forest. For example, killing a bison requires just three hits to the body.
In general, it is worth hunting and skinning the animals while you are walking through a forest – this will increase your survival points. This will come in handy when you will have to build a Hunting Lodge to complete one of the main quests.
You can cross the river
During exploration, you will often have to cross the wide river dividing the map in two. There are bridges on it, but they are quite far apart. To cross the river you don't have to walk more than you should – you can simply cross the river. For now, it can be done safely even in winter. Your character won't complain about the low temperature.
Choose a place for a house and settlement
One of your first tasks is to build a house. First, however, you will have to choose the right place for it. You have to make sure that it is close to the villages of Gostovia and Borovo, which you will often visit to complete the first quests and meet with traders. It should also be close to water and forest (you will use a huge amount of wood to build structures). The terrain should be flat and vast.
You have to think ahead. Your house will not be the only building there – soon, you will other farm buildings, farm fields, and finally new residents of the village. For these reasons, you should choose a really big area. You will find it on the other side of the river, east of Gostovia and Borova, in the place shown on the map.
