Mafia Definitive Edition: The Old Switcheroo - walkthrough Mafia Definitive Edition guide, walkthrough
Last update: 29 September 2020
This page of the Mafia Definitive Edition guide contains a walkthrough for The Old Switcheroo side mission available in the Free Ride mode. You will learn how to pick up the racing cars, how to park them on trailers and how to do all this within the time limit.
You can learn about this mission by finding Herbert Baskerville's letter in the Free Ride. The letter is found on a chest in the room upstairs (the one for planning assassinations).
It has information on where the mission will begin. It is a telephone box located in a district full of single-family homes east of City Cemetery in Oakwood.
This mission is a time trial consisting of several parts. Your task is to deliver racing cars to the places marked on the map.
The first racing car is parked on a trailer not far from where the mission began. Drive off the trailer and start moving to the Beech Hill. When playing this challenge, you should drive in a similar way as you did during the Fairplay main mission – avoid hitting other vehicles and elements of the environment. You should also start braking in advance. Watch out particularly for the serpentines leading to Beech Hill. It's easy to drive off the road and crash or get stuck in bushes.
You need to get to the driveway in front of the estate in Beech Hill. You now have to do some specific actions:
- Park the vehicle near the trailer.
- Get out of the vehicle and get into a new race car parked on the trailer (picture 1).
- Drive the car off the trailer.
- Return to your previous vehicle and drive it on the trailer (picture 2).
After doing all of this, can you get into a new vehicle.
The second destination is around Lake Fyer in the northern end of the map. It's a very long route, but the game will give you enough time. When leaving the Beech Hill area and the city, remember not to drive too fast, as it is easy to cause an accident.
Once you reach the countryside, gain more speed on long, straight stretches of road. Remember to slow down before turning, and to avoid collisions. Hitting something with high speed can severely damage the racing car. Destroy it and you will fail the mission.
The new destination is in front of the estate on the hill – you will need to make a few sharp turns to get there. Just like before, pull the new vehicle out of the trailer and park the car you've used to get here.
Your next destination is Chinatown. Try to take advantage of the fact that you can move at high speed in the early stages of your journey. Once you enter the city, you should definitely slow down and pay more attention to avoiding traffic, street lamps and other indestructible obstacles.
The replacement spot is hidden behind the wall of one of the buildings – the picture above shows it.
The last destination is the Oakwood district, the starting point of this time trial. Unfortunately, this is the most demanding route, as it involves driving across the city. Accelerate only on wide stretches of the road, but even then watch out for, e.g. cars moving from the side streets. Once you get there, drive into the trailer to complete the challenge.
The reward for completing this mission is a unique Brubaker vehicle. From now on, you can take it from any garage on the map. It has great performance and can be used for smooth travel around the world.
