The fourth installment in the action game series, featuring the titular comic book superhero. The game was developed by Rocksteady, the studio which had previously worked on Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City. The plot depicts the next chapter of Batman’s adventures. This time, the hero must face Scarecrow, who successfully terrorized Gotham City. A coalition has also formed against the Dark Knight, composed of extremely dangerous criminals such as Penguin or Harley Quinn, and led by the eponymous Arkham Knight. The developers have remained faithful to previously proven solutions and gameplay mechanics. However, several changes have also been implemented, such as the ability to knock out several enemies at once. A brand new feature is the introduction of the famous Batmobile, which can be used to traverse the virtual Gotham.

Disco Elysium is an unusual, isometric RPG game that is the first title developed by Estonian studio ZA/UM. The game is focused mostly on narrative. It takes place in a fictional world that combines modern setting with fantasy traits and with retro-futuristic technologies. The player assumes the role of a policeman who is tired of life. He begins working on a case that can either give him a chance of redemption or take him to the very bottom. During the game player is exploring, completing tasks, speaking to various people and fighting. However, all of this is done in a way that is unusual for the genre. The dialogue system is similar to a logic game during which you must fight by using words and manipulate the person you speak with in various ways. The battles are based on dialogues as well – you must select various text descriptions of actions, trying to create a battle scene worthy of being placed in a good novel.

Adventure, Detective, Point-and-click, Singleplayer.

A sequel to the well-received 2006’s point-and-click adventure game, developed in cooperation with Fusionsphere Systems, the creators of the original. The title’s plot revolves around a worldwide series of unexplainable phenomena boggling even the greatest of minds. Everything indicates that there may actually be something in the prophecy of imminent dooms preached by Pat Shelton on the TV. The duo of the original’s protagonists, Nina Kalenkov and Max Gruber, take on the task to solve the mystery once their paths cross yet again in the face of the incoming danger. Secret Files 2: Puritas Cordis is practically identical to its predecessor in terms of gameplay mechanics and graphics. The fun is focused on exploring locations and solving logic puzzles connected to them. The game features pre-rendered backgrounds and three-dimensional character models.

Adventure, Detective, Remaster/remake, Science Fiction, Singleplayer, TPP.

A remastered edition of the adventure game developed by Quantic Dream, which debuted in 2005 on computers and sixth generation consoles. The story of the game takes place in the New York City in year 2009. The city is mortified by a series of brutal murders committed by otherwise lawful citizens for no apparent reasons. The player assumes the role of Kane, a man who, haunted by strange visions, kills a person he was completely unfamiliar with. The second playable character is inspector Carla Valenti who, together with her partner, is investigating the mysterious murders. The objective of the game is to determine who is responsible for those acts. The game puts great focus on story, exploration, and conversations with characters. The new version of the game has introduced game controller support and greatly refreshed graphics. What’s interesting, during the game one can freely switch between the original and remastered visuals.

Adventure, Detective, Puzzle Elements, Point-and-click, Singleplayer.

Another installment in the Secret Files series of adventure games developed by Animation Arts. The title is not a direct continuation of its predecessors but a spin-off in which the player controls a completely new female protagonist. In Secret Files: Sam Peters the player assumes the role of the titular reporter who appeared in the second installment of the series. In search for a hot topic she travels to sunny Ghana where it was discovered that genetic code of the animals that live in the lake was changed due to a meteorite crash. As one can guess, many dangers will stand on the way of the protagonist and many times will Sam Peters have to decide how far she will dare to go. Except for a completely new story, the new installment of Secret Files series doesn’t differ from its predecessors and is still a classic example of a point-and-click adventure game.
