Another installment in the Secret Files series of adventure games developed by Animation Arts. The title is not a direct continuation of its predecessors but a spin-off in which the player controls a completely new female protagonist. In Secret Files: Sam Peters the player assumes the role of the titular reporter who appeared in the second installment of the series.

Plot
Mechanics

Secret Files: Sam Peters for PC, iOS and AND is another installment of the series of classic point’n’click adventure games. However, it is not a direct continuation of the story presented in its predecessors. Instead of that, it is a spin-off with a new main female protagonist. The game was developed by German studio Animations Arts, the creators or co-creators of all previous installments of the series.

Plot

In this installment the player controls the titular reporter who debuted in the second game in the series, Puritas Cordis. This time she replaces the previous protagonist, Nina Kalenkow, as the lead character. The female journalist is working for “Uncharted” science magazine and in search for a hot topic she journeys to sunny Ghana. Sam Peters learns that scientists discovered there a change in genetic code of animals that live in the Bosumtwi lake. The lake was created millions years ago due to a meteorite crash. Before Sam ends her mission, she will encounter many obstacles - according to Ashanti legends, the jungle near the lake is inhabited by humanoid creatures that lurk for their victim in the night. Once they capture someone, then they drink victim’s blood. Sam must decide how far is she ready to go in order to obtain the “cover” material for the popular science magazine.

Mechanics

Secret Files: Sam Peters for PC, iOS and AND is a typical adventure game in which player explores successive areas, speaks to many NPCs, thinks in order to solve puzzles and combines items needed for pushing the story forward. Similarly as its predecessors, the game has pre-rendered, two-dimensional backgrounds filled with fully three-dimensional character models.
