Secret Files 3: The Archimedes Code

Secret Files 3: The Archimedes Code is the latest installment of the classical adventure game series for PC, Wii and NDS. The previous ones were Secret Files: Tunguska and Secret Files 2: Puritas Cordis.

Plot

In the Archimedes Code, we assume the role of Nina and Max again as well as two other gentlemen, at times. This time around, the duo is trying to solve the mystery of the Pi. Once more, we are forced to save the world from doom by facing many dangers and visiting various corners of the planet. We also travel back in time to the ancient Alexandria and the renaissance Florencia. We also get to Nina’s uneasy dreams and even to a post-apocalyptic reality.

The third game of the series references the original through the hooded visitors who kidnapped the protagonist’s father and their mysterious symbol. This time around, we spend much more time in Nina’s shoes since several days before the planned wedding, Max is accused of terrorism and arrested by special forces. With time, however, it turns out that not everything is as it seems…

Mechanics

The game is a classical adventure game. It involves exploring locations, collecting items for later use, talking to non-player characters, and, obviously, solving puzzles. The last listed element boasts a great variety—it includes mini-games (including an arcade one) and even a labyrinth. Everything is done via a simple point ‘n’ click interface. Secret Files 3: The Archimedes Code for PC, Wii and NDS is powered by an engine that combines high-quality pre-rendered backgrounds with three-dimensional character models. To make things more interesting, the developers introduced the necessity of making mutually exclusive choices and four alternative endings.
