Pentiment Description
Pentiment is an adventure game inspired by illuminated manuscripts, woodcuts and history itself. It was developed by Obsidian Entertainment studio and published by Microsoft.
Plot
Pentiment takes us on a journey to 16th century Germany shaken by riots. The main character of the game is Andreas Maler, an apprentice artist who works in the former scriptorium of Kiersau Abbey. Unexpectedly, the protagonist becomes entangled in a series of murders that has been going on for 25 years. To discover the truth, Maler will have to question literally everyone - peasants, craftsmen, noblemen, monks, nuns, and even the local thieves. How the protagonist's fate will turn out and how his investigation will proceed depends on our actions and decisions.
Game mechanics
Pentiment is a side-scroller. We mainly explore, talk and acquire valuable information that allow us to push the investigation forward. Clues can be obtained in a variety of ways; although interrogations are the most important, sometimes it's necessary to get your hands dirty and dig up a monk's grave or even listen to rumors spread among the populace. We also make choices, each of which can have far-reaching consequences.
Technical aspects
Graphics and sound design of Pentiment are made in characteristic style inspired by medieval art.
