Syberia Video Game Series
A highly popular series of adventure games created by the Microids development studio. The brand is currently owned by Anuman Interactive.
The father of the series Syberia is Belgian comic book creator and video game designer Benoît Sokal. The first part of the series was released in 2002. The production instantly won the hearts of players and is still considered one of the most interesting adventures of the first decade of the 21st century. The success was repeated two years later with the release of the sequel - Syberia II. In 2006, an omnibus edition of these productions was released, titled Syberia: Golden Edition, and in 2015 their special version for the PS3, Syberia Collection. Work on the next part of the series was postponed several times. Eventually Syberia 3 had its premiere in 2017. 5 years later, the fourth installment was released on the market, Syberia: The World Before.
The action of the games in the series Syberia takes place in a world resembling a combination of art noveau style and steampunk realities. The universe is shared with Benoît Sokal's earlier work -. Amerzone: The Explorer's Legacy (1999). The main character of the series is Kate Walker, a young American lawyer who travels east to finalize a deal to take over a toy factory. However, the case turns out to be much more complicated, and the protagonist is faced with a mass of adventures as she searches for a mythical island - Siberia. This adventure continues through the first two installments of the series - the third presents a completely new story, not directly related to its predecessors and revolving around a certain squalid hospital in Valsembor. The fourth installment presented its story from two perspectives: the familiar Kate Walker, struggling to survive in a salt mine somewhere in Siberia, and Dana Roze, a pianist developing her career just before the outbreak of World War II. Both heroines discover many long-forgotten secrets during their adventures.
Games in the series Siberia are characterized by a linear storyline, the course of which is determined by successive puzzles and logical challenges posed to the player. The gameplay mechanics are designed in such a way that the main character cannot die, and mistakes made do not result in "getting stuck" in a given location.
What distinguishes the series Syberia against the background of competing productions, is the extremely atmospheric audiovisual layer. The first two parts are characterized by graphics combining 2D and 3D elements, generated on the basis of the second and third generation Virtools Engine. Only in Syberia III the developers opted for fully 3D graphics, which they sustained in the fourth installment.

The story focuses on adventures of Kate Walker, a young lawyer, whose profession, in-born curiosity, and adventurousness get her entangled in a new mystery. Throughout the game, featuring classic point-and-click mechanics, you meet a whole menagerie of characters known from the previous installments in the series, as well as a cast of new heroes, including Still Life's protagonist and an FBI agent Victoria McPherson. Despite of using full 3D graphics that replaced hand drawn backgrounds, the game features the characteristic artwork style consistent with previous games.

A set of the first two installments in the popular Syberia series — point-and-click adventure games by Benoit Sokal, originally released in 2002 and 2003. The games' console port, created over 10 years after the original release, does not change the gameplay or visuals much, but it introduces gamepad support. In Siberia, you play as a young lawyer named Kate Walker, who was hired by a toymaking company to finalize formalities regarding a takeover of a factory in a small European town. The story begins when the protagonist arrives in the town and learns that the factory's owner, Anna Voralberg, is dead. To complete her task, Walker has to find Voralberg's heir, Hans. During the search, you visit various locations and solve a range of logic puzzles. The sequel continues the story from the first installment — Kate and Hans search for a land of living mammoths.

Syberia II
Adventure
March 29, 2004
A sequel to the excellent adventure game created by Benoit Sokal and studio Microids. Syberia II continues the plot of the first installment - it presents the further adventures of Kate Walker, an American lawyer. Her intention of finalizing a contract led her to the adventure of her life. The game starts in the same place where the first Syberia ended – in the Russian city Romansburg. This time Kate decides to follow the trail of Hans Voralberg, the heir to an automaton factory, for her own reasons. The woman joins Hans and she helps him discover the mystery of the last living Mammoths. The greatest change in comparison to the first game lies in the quality of the graphics and the increase of the gameplay dynamics. Many new graphic effects were added, including dynamic shadows and an animated snow. Syberia II takes place in completely new locations that are much more different from each other than previously. During her adventures Kate will visit, among other places, the North-West passage and the village of the Youkol people.
