Siberia 5 Still Possible Despite Benoit Sokal's Passing
Developers from Microids admitted that they are not planning Syberia 5 for now, although Benoit Sokal left them materials for it. Also DLCs for The World Before and remasters of the first installments are possible.
Released in March Syberia: The World Before was received quite warmly by the players and reviewers. This could herald a continuation - the question is whether it is possible without the father of the series, Benoit Sokal, who passed away last May. The Q&A session held two days ago by studio Microids on Reddit suggests that yes - because the legendary creator left the developers materials for a sequel. Nevertheless, the developers at the moment do not have a similar project in their "official" plans.
DLC for The World Before
This is the answer given to one of the Internet users, by the director of fourth game, Lucas Lagravette. In general, questions about the further fate of the brand comprised the majority during the session. The good news is that it does not seem that the entire series and the character of Kate Walker are to be abandoned. However, before a possible sequel is created, Microids may think about a story DLC for The World Before. As assured by the game's main programmer, Loic Bigot, materials for it already exist, although the DLC itself is not planned at the moment either.
Remasters of the first Syberias
Fans of the series would like to get not only the continuation - whether in the form of a full game or at least a DLC - but also remasters of the first installments. Creative director of Syberia: The World Before Xavier Tual, said that all current studio employees would like the chance to create refreshed versions. "Who knows?," concluded the developer, as if to suggest that the decision on the matter may be pending and not necessarily be up to the game's writers.
The chosen direction
Regardless of which path Microids takes, the aforementioned Loic Bigot assured that the team is comfortable with creating narrative games. So whether with Syberia in the title or not, sooner or later we'll get another relatively similar game from the French team.
