The sequel to the groundbreaking first-person shooter by id Software that, just like its predecessor released the year before, set new visual standards thanks to the enhanced idTech 2 engine. When it turned out that the alien secretly plan to conquer Earth, a special space marine unit was sent into action. They were completely crushed, though, and the player assumes the role of the sole survivor on whom the further fate of the humanity depends. Compared to the original, Quake II is characterized by a significantly richer plot and modified weapon arsenal. The levels were also greatly expanded, following different stylistics than in the previous game. Multiplayer remains the title’s strength. Grand Theft Auto 2
Action
October 22, 1999
A sequel to the very popular, and rather controversial, game from DMA Design (currently Rockstar North), which offered a taste of criminal lifestyle, letting you commit progressively more brazen and bloody acts of violence. The second part once again takes you to the streets of a virtual metropolis, and although it features only one city, it is much bigger than those in the first game. It is divided into three districts controlled by three local gangs. Players do various jobs for the gangs. With each successful mission their reputation in the group's ranks increases. As it was in the first game, while on a mission, the player can make use of a wide arsenal of weapons as well as more than 120 distinctive vehicles. This time, however, it's not just the police that are trying to get in your way; you will be facing SWAT, FBI, and even the army. Gameplay is presented in top-down perspective, although the graphics are more colorful than before, and accompanied by radio music playing each time you are driving a car.

In the last episode, Lara tries to take an artifact called Iris (Tomb Raider 4) from Werner von Croy, breaking into the antagonist's modern-design skyscraper. The game expands the mechanics of the previous installments and features several new ones, including mainly line walking and an ability to swing from sticks. Metal Gear Solid

Players take role of Snake, the special forces soldier known from previous titles, whose objective is to infiltrate the base, save the hostages and stop the terrorists, who threaten to launch nuclear missile. Unlike its predecessors, Metal Gear Solid has been created in full 3D, though the game premises remained unchanged. Gameplay focuses on stealth elements: acting in secrecy and avoiding guards, cameras, and direct confrontation. Nonetheless, the game doesn't lack action sequence, where the protagonists makes use of a vast arsenal of weapons and useful gadgets.
Heart of Darkness

Despite the dangers, the protagonist sets out to rescue his pet, equipped with self-made plasma weapon and vehicle. In terms of game mechanics, the title is a classic platform game, with the hero jumping, running, swimming and – naturally – fighting various enemies: from spiders, worms, and shadows, up to the Lord of Darkness himself. But Andy won’t be alone during his journey, as he can rely on the assistance of the strange flying creatures, which resisted the darkness. Another ally of our hero is magical energy, which allows him to use nearby trees in different ways.
Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation
Action
November 22, 1999
Another installment in the popular action adventure game series by Core Design, featuring the sexy archaeologist as the main role. The action of Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation starts in Cambodia, in the Angkor Wat temple, but the main part of the plot takes place in Egypt, where the heroine happened to have released the evil god Seth, which threatens the whole humanity. To save the world, Lara needs to collect every piece of the mythical Armour of Horus and call upon his help in order to fight the enemy. In contrast to the previous installments of the series, Tomb Raider 4 emphasizes freedom – each location can be visited numerous times in any order. Other elements of the series are virtually unchanged, except the developer gave Lara some new abilities and weapons unavailable before. Tomb Raider 4 is the first title in the series that introduces an option of combining items, which allows us to modify our equipment.
