The game is a sort of poetic visual story with such themes as childhood, memories, and hope. Interestingly, this is a work of basically one man, who only used the help of his closest family. Home is Where One Starts… tells a story of a teenage girl who leaves her home for school early in the morning, but misses her bus.

The protagonist, Super Sonico, is the developer's mascot and has her own anime and comic book series, and appears on a multitude of gadgets.
