The Wolf Among Us: A Telltale Games Series - Season 1

An episodic adventure game based on the popular Fables comic book series. The Wolf Among Us was developed by Telltale Games, studio that used the same mechanics as in its previous title, The Walking Dead. The protagonists are fairy creatures that were forced to look for a safe haven in the human world where they must hide their true nature. During the game the player can encounter many characters known from the comic books – including the Big Bad Wolf, Snow White or Ichabod Crane. The gameplay is focused mostly on visiting locations, conversing with NPCs, solving riddles and making hard decisions. The Wolf Among Us employs comic book-like visuals and, as usual, cel-shading.

A noir detective action adventure game developed by the Australian studio Team Bondi in cooperation with the veterans from Rockstar Games. The game invites you into Los Angeles of the 1940’s, a city filled with corruption and drug dealing organizations. You assume the role of Cole Phelps, an ex-soldier who becomes a police officer after the war. The game lets you experience the key moments of Cole’s career, starting from the traffic police all the way through murder and drugs department. Gameplay is mainly about examining crime scenes in search of clues and evidence, as well as interrogating witnesses and suspects. The game also offers multiple action sequences, including pursuits (either on foot or by car), fist fights, and spectacular shootouts. When it comes to graphics, the most noteworthy feature are the realistic face expressions that allow you to judge the reactions of interogatees. The game overflows with a noir atmosphere characteristic of the 1940’ and 50’ movies.

A tech-noir tactical action game with a spy thriller setting. All Walls Must Fall is set in 2089, in an alternative reality in which the Berlin Wall never fell and the Cold War still lasts. To make things worse, the rivalry between the East and the West has resulted in a nuclear disaster. You play as a group of intelligence agents, who travel back in time and get one night to prevent the catastrophe from happening. The decisions you make during the game can have a great effect on the world's future. The gameplay in All Walls Must Fall is shown in an isometric view. The game takes place in procedurally generated locations — mostly in Berlin nightclubs, which allows you to hide in the crowd — and your main tasks are exploration and gathering important information from NPCs. The game also features a tactical combat mode with an active pause option. An important element of the game is turning back time, which helps you to avoid the consequences of your oversights. The visuals have been inspired by communist propaganda posters.

A third-person survival horror from the independent French studio OSome, inspired by the Alone in the Dark series. White Night takes place in 1930’s, following a hero trapped in an old family mansion that hides a dark secret of the past. Our main enemy are the dark and mysterious creatures that dwell in it, forcing us to solve many puzzles based on light and dark mechanics. Using various sources of light somewhat resembles Alan Wake, with plot and storytelling inspired by works of people like Alfred Hitchcock, David Lynch and Roman Polanski. Visuals are the most outstanding part of the game, using only black and white with many symbolic elements, referring to classic works of German expressionism.

A noir mix of an action and adventure game developed by the team at A Crowd of Monsters. We play as a former detective, Patton, who wants to face the wave of crime that plagues the city of Santa Esperanza, as well as the demons from his past. He must solve the case of a series of brutal murders, either by interrogating and speaking with key characters or through scenes straight from an action movie. Interestingly, the plot changes depending on our decisions. What make Blues and Bullets stand out are its visuals, with black and white dominating, with an addition of some distinctive red. It also serves as a narrative feature, as the city changes and some objects provide crucial information.

My Eyes on You is a title developed by independent Ukrainian studio Storymind Entertainment, members of which previously worked on games like Metro: Last Light, The Witcher 3 and the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. In the game the player assumes the role of an FBI detective Jordan Adalien who attempts to catch a murderer known as the Man in the Red Mask. The killer is acting in Chicago during a carnival. The story is non-linear and the player’s decisions can impact not only in which direction the plot will go, but how it will end as well. When it comes to mechanics, My Eyes on You is a third-person perspective action game in which the player is exploring mysterious streets and suburbs of a neo-noir Chicago. The game features stealth elements – Jordan must hide from enemies and sneak past them. What’s interesting, the protagonist has various illnesses – in stressful situations his mind can create hallucinations.

The action of Calvino Noir takes us to the 30s of the 20th century where we assume control of a team of thieves that commit audacious robberies. Our team involves a wide range of original characters, each having their unique skills and equipment. While playing, we take on a number of robberies that we have to carefully plan before going on the mission. Since our thieves are far from killing machines, the key to success is to compose the team well so that characters of different abilities cooperate properly. We are forced to avoid guards, evade security measures, and solve various puzzles. Should we make a mistake, even the strongest thief won’t be able to handle several armed guards.

The main protagonist of Pixel Noir is trying to solve a mystery of the tragic events from a decade ago when his partner died, leading to him quitting work as a police officer, as he unjustly was sentenced to jail. After being released, he begins to work as a private detective and tries to solve minor cases, until finally, he finds a lead that might help him get the answers that have been taunting him for years. As befits a true RPG, in Pixel Noir, the players get to explore numerous locations, interact with NPCs, find clues, collect valuable items, and fight enemies. Combat is turn-based, nonetheless, it features certain arcade elements. The main protagonist is accompanied by other characters, each one exhibiting unique skills and utilized weapons. Pixel Noir delivers neutral and grim pixel-art visuals.
