Fallen Aces is an immersive sim made in a criminal action game convention and maintained in a noir style. The game was developed by a duo of independent developers - Trey Powell and Jason Bond - and released by New Blood Interactive.

Plot

Fallen Aces takes us on a journey to the fictional Switchblade City. The A.C.E.S. is taking care of the order in this metropolis, which apparently does not appeal to the criminal underworld. One after another, these unusual law enforcement officers are killed by unknown criminals. The last person who can stop this is the main character, whose methods of action can be described as 'hit or shoot first, then ask'.

Mechanics

In Fallen Aces, we observe the action from a first person perspective (FPP). The game is divided into three episodes, each of which consists of separate stages. During the game, we travel through various locations (from elegant interiors to dark, dirty alleys) and eliminate hordes of enemies, making use of various arsenals. Although the protagonist is very good at handling firearms, headed by the cult Tommy Guns, he is also not so bad at fighting with his own fists, knives or objects he has at hand (like heavy pipes or boards). Moreover, it is up to us whether we will throw ourselves at our enemies with a battle cry or try to act silently by sneaking behind their backs and killing them quietly. The search for alternative solutions is encouraged by the open construction of the levels, thanks to which several paths lead to each target.

Technical aspects

The graphic design of Fallen Aces has been maintained in a cartoon style reminiscent of noir comics. The impression is enhanced by the instrumental soundtrack and dialogues full of characteristic gangster phrases.
