Golden Axe

A side-scrolling fighting game classified as a slasher, set in a fantasy world, and a conversion of the hit production from arcade machines of the SEGA company. Action of Golden Axe takes place in a land of Yuri, invaded by a barbarian named Death Adder, who kidnapped the king and his daughter, wanting to take possession of the legendary golden axe. Three heroes arise to fight him: a barbarian, a dwarf, and an amazon, each of them specializing in a different type of weapon. During the game we continually move to the right side of the screen, traversing subsequent levels and confronting scores of enemies, as well as powerful bosses. Apart from wielding weapons, the game also allows us to mount dragons, and in the most critical moments, use magic, the power of which increases as we collect special mana potions. The game can be played with another person, offering a co-op adventure mode or classic one on one duels (with another hero or with subsequent enemies).

An action RPG developed by the creators of the Baldur’s Gate and Neverwinter Nights series. Initially, it was released solely for Xbox, then its expanded edition came out for the popular PC platform. The story of Jade Empire takes place in a fantasy world based on Chinese mythology. In the game, we assume the role of one of six characters — all of them students of a famous martial arts teacher called Master Li — that have to hone their skills under the supervision of their mentor in order to become true legends. The story is non-linear and is distinguished by the mechanism of making constant choices between good and evil, therefore each interaction with the environment, each conversation with an NPC, and even a fight influences the further plot progress and our character’s development path. The game offers fully 3D graphics with third-person perspective view and a real-time combat system that requires combining individual strikes into complex sequences.
Double Dragon IV

The fourth installment in the legendary beat ‘em up series, developed by Arc System Works. The development was supported by the persons responsible for the cult-classic previous installments of the series, including Takaomi Kaneko, Yoshihisa Kishimoto, Koji Ogata, and Kazunaka Yamane. Similarly to the previous installments of the Double Dragon series, the gameplay focuses on traversing 2D locations and eliminating hordes of approaching opponents. Our means of survival include punches and kicks, as well as numerous melee weapons, with each level ending in a boss fight that requires much more effort from the player. Double Dragon IV received a story mode that can be completed alone, or with the help of another player. Completing the campaign unlocks the Tower Mode, involving the climb on the progressively higher levels of the titular tower, and a 2P Duel Mode, focusing on online 1v1 battes. The game is characterized by simple, pixel-art visuals, which take the player back to the previous installments of the series, known for popularizing the beat ‘em up genre.

A mobile side-scroll fighting game by Softmax. The production takes us to an post-apocalyptic future when the majority of the planet turned into a desert unable to sustain life. There are grand armored trains running between the remaining cities, and the action takes place in one of those vehicle. A dangerous gang of criminals took control of the train, and the player’s task is to eliminate the wrongdoers as well as their mysterious leader. TrainCrasher features a number of various characters to choose from, each having their own unique fighting style. The gameplay involves moving to the right side of the screen and eliminating enemies with different strikes, special techniques, and combos. The game is enriched by challenging boss fights and RPG elements in the form of a simple character development system as well as crafting mechanics that allow us to enhance our weapons and armor.

A mobile team action game created by Vivid Games – a Polish studio, known for, among others, the Real Boxing series. In Metal Fist: Urban Domination, we assume the role of various characters, each having unique attacks and abilities, who fight for domination in a number of single player and multiplayer modes. The mechanics of the game are pretty simple, and don’t require serious skill, but in order to be successful in the game, the player needs to develop his own fighting style, and constantly train to for his character to progress. During the encounters, we make use of around 100 types of weapons, items, and skills, influencing not only the looks, but also the abilities of our character. The game uses the popular Unreal Engine 4 technology, and can show high-quality 2.5D visuals for it, along with eye-catching details and special effects.

An arcade action game by Frima Studio, the creators of the platform games Chariot and Zombie Tycoon 2. LEGO Bionicle: Mask of Creaion is set on the Okoto Island, where not only have the Masks of Power gone missing, but also the forces of evil are running rampant. The group of protagonists, consisting of Tahu (the Toa of Fire), Kopaka (the Toa of Ice), Onua (the Toa of Earth), Gali (the Toa of Water), Pohatu (the Toa of Stone), and Lewa (the Toa of Jungle), is forced to try and restore the order and reclaim the Masks. Their mission calls for battling numerous adversaries — in combat, the heroes use various fighting abilities, which give them an advantage over their foes. Interestingly, the game was created as a part of the promotional campaign for the new LEGO Bionicle toy line, and despite it's free-to-play model, it does not feature any microtransactions or ads.

Compilation of the first three installments in the cult brawler game series, released for arcade machines at the turn of the 1980s and 90s. The remasters of those classic titles were handled by DotEmu. Double Dragon Trilogy tells of the adventures of two brothers – Billy and Jimmy Lee – Sou-Setsu-Ken masters, who run a small martial arts school in a post-apocalyptic New York. All three games are focused on two-person co-op gameplay, which comes down to traversing two-dimensional levels and beating up opponents on the way. Melee combat is based on a whole range of punches and kicks as well as the frequent use of different types of weapons. The games offer both Story Mode and Arcade Mode, the latter being all about high scores. Double Dragon Trilogy returns with slightly enhanced graphics, although it is also possible to play with the original audiovisuals. In addition, the remasters offer three levels of difficulty and the option to customize controls.
