Armored Core Video Game Series
A series of TPP shooters, enriched with tactical elements that allow players to sit at the controls of futuristic mechs. The series was created by Japanese studio FromSoftware, which later gained a global cause with, among others, the series of Souls.
The first part of the series, i.e. Armored Core, debuted on the PlayStation console in 1997. The full-fledged second installment of the series, Armored Core 2, hit the PlayStation 2 in 2000. Two years later, the game appeared on store shelves Armored Core 3, which was also a reboot of the series; the title debuted on the PlayStation 2, but also came to the PlayStation Portable in 2009. Released in 2006 on the PlayStation 3, the game Armored Core 4 on the other hand, constituted the third reboot of the series; in addition, it was the first part of the series to leave the PlayStation "ecosystem" and in 2007 it also made its way to the Xbox 360. 2012 brought the release of the full-fledged fifth part of the series, i.e. Armored Core V. The sixth installment of the series - Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon - meanwhile, went on sale in 2023 and marked the brand's debut on personal computers.
In addition, over the years, each of the main installments of the series lived to see continuations, released as standalone expansions.
The story told in subsequent games in the series Armored Core has been rebooted several times. The common denominator of each of these stories is that the action is set in the future and players are cast in the role of mercenaries who sit at the helm of futuristic mechs. Carrying out a variety of missions, players carry out the tasks set before them and eliminate opponents who stand in their way. An important element of games under the banner of Armored Core is the modification of mechs. Productions put at our disposal an extensive arsenal and a wide range of various components, with the help of which players can customize their walking machines to individual preferences and above all - current needs. Which mecha design will prove effective in a given mission is determined both by the adversaries we face and the topography of the terrain, among other factors.
In addition to the single-player campaign, in games under the banner of Armored Core you can find a multiplayer mode. The {first installments of the series offered split-screen play, and in the era of PlayStation 2 players could check the gameplay over a local network; the first installment of the series to offer players outside Japan the opportunity to play over the Internet, however, was the game Armored Core 4.
