Shakedown Hawaii
Action
September 26, 2019
An old-school open-world action game and a sequel to Retro City Rampage developed by Vblank Entertainment. The action of Shakedown Hawaii takes place 30 years after the events presented in its predecessor. The protagonist has grown really old and got himself a large belly. Dramatic events forced him to take up arms once again and to rebuild his crime empire. The gameplay mechanics improve on the ideas from Retro City Rampage and bear a strong resemblance to the first installment of the cult-classic Grand Theft Auto. The action is observed from an aerial view when traversing the open city area on foot or by vehicles. While playing, we perform various primary and secondary quests, using a rich arsenal or firearms, and the gameplay is enriched with elements of economic simulation that lets us manage the protagonist’s business. The game is realized in retro style and features a large dose of absurd and undiscriminating humor.

An isometric shooter that takes place in a world plagued by a zombie apocalypse. The game was developed by a Japanese studio G-Style. In addition to that, the player can encounter stronger enemies that are able to kill him in a matter of moments. From time to time the player must face bosses as well. Among the available weapons there are pistols, rifles, shotguns, a rocket launcher and some melee weapons – including a samurai sword and a chainsaw. The equipment and character statistics can be upgraded. The main game mode is a campaign, split into three scenarios. Eight types of enemies can be found in the game; they differ from each other in terms of speed, toughness, and tactic, and becoming increasingly stronger with each wave. The main objective of the game is to eliminate the opponents before they get close enough to hurt the player. Gunslugs 2
Action
October 22, 2015
A continuation of a wacky 2D platform shooter, which in terms of mechanics resembles classic games such as Contra and the iconic Metal Slug series. Developed by OrangePixel, the game delivers even more chaos caused by countless bullets, enemies, and explosions making it impossible for a player to calmly analyze the situation on the screen. Luckily, throughout consecutive stages, there are numerous first-aid kits, which are able of healing even a nearly dead hero. Completing the main campaign is not very problematic, even though it has been divided into 56 separate levels. A much bigger challenge is posed by the Arcade mode, in which the player (with only one life) is tasked with covering the longest distance possible. The game features a style typical for other games developed by OrangePixel – simple, 2D visuals are not too elaborate, however, because of the dynamic gameplay, the player does not have much time to notice that.
IronFall: Invasion
Action
February 19, 2015
IronFall: Invasion is a third-person shooter for Nintendo 3DS. It was developed by the creators of DRIV3R, Stuntman, and Cop The Recruit. The game takes place in a future where we play as highly-trained soldiers who have to fend off an enemy invasion. Gameplay in IronFall: Invasion is really fast-paced and, when it comes to the game's cover system, visibly inspired by Gears of War. We will use many types of weapons in combat, including pistols, rifles, and sniper rifles. Though we will spend most of our time on shooting, we will also have the chance to, for example, fly a helicopter. The game offers a single player campaign mode and a multiplayer mode (local or online) for up to six players. IronFall: Invasion features high-quality visuals that make a good use of the 3DS' power. The bottom screen of the console serves as a heart rate monitor that informs us about our soldier's condition.
Metroid Prime: Blast Ball
Arcade
July 21, 2016
A multiplayer first-person perspective shooter. As Nintendo shuns extreme violence, the title does not feature brutal gameplay like the Doom or Call of Duty series. Instead, you play a futuristic football variation designed for two teams of three. The players control robots which shoot at a giant ball and by doing so, try to put it in the back of the opponent’s net. The thing is, you can be gunned down by the enemy, and the more damage the ball suffers, the smaller it gets, which significantly impedes controlling it towards the end of a match. Gameplay requires strict cooperation between the players, sometimes even sacrifice. The title features pleasant 3D graphics.
