A precise throw
A throw is the most basic and the fastest way of initiating a play and launching a swift counterattack after an enemy attack. After catching a cross or a shot it is worth dynamically, but also very precisely, throwing the ball to one of the players - even two or three subsequent, well executed passes can lead us straight under the enemy goal. However, there is one simple mistake to make here, that can often be our demise - throwing the ball right under the rival's feet. To resume the game with a throw, press the button responsible for the pass when the goalkeeper has the ball in his hands, and adjust the power and direction of the ball.
A long-distance kick
A long-distance kick is the least precise, but also an extremely dynamic way of resuming play, that puts a lot of distance between the ball and your own goal. Even if the opponent wins the mid-air duel and passes with a header, it does not result in an immediate chance for an enemy attack, as the long-distance kick will allow your defensive line to organize if you lose possession. To execute this play, press the button responsible for the cross and fill up the power bar to adjust how far away you want the pass to land.
A short-distance kick
A delicate kick in the direction of a far off defender is a good way of avoiding the more active strikers, who are waiting for our every mistake while resuming the game - it is best to direct such a pass to the side sectors of the pitch, as in the case of the recipient's failure to control the ball, we will not be exposed to a counterattack and the ball will land outside of the field.
Resuming with a pass
Resuming the game with a pass is the safest way of approaching the issue, but only in theory - in practice, it is very easy to misinterpret the enemy's movement and pass the ball to a striker, simultaneously creating an extremely dangerous situation under our own goal. To resume the game with a short pass, press the button responsible for the pass and choose the direction, in which you want to send the ball.
Returning a pass as the goalkeeper
In situations such as these speed is absolutely crucial - if the ball reaches the goalkeeper once again, you can expect a swift attack from your opponent. It such cases it is best to simply kick the ball as far away from your goal as possible, neutralizing the direct threat to your goal. If you do have some time to decide, it may be worth it to pass the ball to a nearby defender, who is not marked and will be able to further develop your play.
