Executing a successful counter-attack and positional attack | Attack FIFA 17 Guide
Last update: 27 October 2016
A well-executed, successful counter-attack is a result of numerous, essential factors - it is not just precision and speed while performing the attack, but also luck while trying an unusual, risky play or our enemy's mistakes while trying to intercept or receive the ball.
The large majority of counter-attacks take place on the wings - it is there where most of the dynamic, creative players can be found, who with a single sprint can tear apart the enemy defensive formation and execute a precise cross into the penalty area. However, playing from the mid-field area give us the widest range of opportunities - as it allows us to carry out plays in any direction, potentially surprising our enemy by putting pressure on the wing or by trying to tow the ball through the middle of the pitch.
Make a Pass to Your Striker
If the enemy has a good defense, and makes smart moves on the field, it's hard to get through with an action. If you tried to make an action across the field, and it hasn't yield any results, you need to make some passes along the field. Use your midfielder to make a pass to your striker, and then instantly pass it back to one of the midfielders. As a result, your range of options will increase. If you apply some pressure at the same time, making a few passes on one contact, you'll have a sure action underway.
