Tackle
A tackle is the simplest and most effective way to regain control over the ball - it is a chance to snatch the ball while still standing, without having to take much risk by performing a sliding tackle. However, it is worth remembering, that a delayed tackle will usually result in a foul and a possible intervention by the referee. To perform a tackle, press the button responsible for this particular play.
Sliding tackle
A sliding tackle is a very risky, but potentially a very effective way of stopping the enemy's attack, however, it is absolutely necessary to assess the chances of successfully disrupting the hostile offensive with this play. If you manage to perform a sliding tackle in an effective and timely fashion, the enemy will be forced to resume the game from a throw-in or a corner, or will simply lose control over the ball completely. To perform it, use the button responsible for the sliding tackle. Remember, that an attempt at a sliding tackle could very likely end in a foul.
Clearance
Sometimes you do not have the chance to get rid of the danger in your penalty area in a way, that will help you to start your own attack - it is then necessary to, without any regrets, dispose of the ball by simply quickly kicking it out of the dangerous area. To perform such a play, press the button responsible for the shot or the cross. Be careful not to kick the ball into a position right in front of the penalty area, as it could provide a chance for a very threatening, powerful shot for your enemy.
Adjusting pace
Adjusting pace to fit that of the attacker's is a way of limiting his options and containing a swift attack - if a player is appropriately controlled he will not be able to perform a cross, and even if he will, it will almost always be blocked or deflected into the corner. This is also a good way of leading the rival into the side-line to neutralize his offensive. To perform this play, press the pace control button.
