Short pass around the 16th meter
A well played ball in the penalty area is the foundation of a good finish of an attack. A very effective tactic here is using short passes right next to the penalty zone - a short perpendicular pass to the closest player gives you a chance of quickly running into the penalty area and opening at least two options afterwards - you can either play the ball to the player below, giving him an almost perfect opportunity of scoring a goal, or finish it yourself with a low shot into the corner of the goal, right past the desperate goalkeeper.
A penetrating pass into the penalty area
Drawing a defenders' attention to a single player gives you multiple possibilities of playing the ball and can open a straight way to scoring a goal. Perpendicular pass in the center of the penalty area makes it possible to perform a quick shot at the goal from a short distance. It is also a good idea to play the ball at a side of the field and cross into the penalty area - in that case there are much fewer players in the penalty area than usually.
Reaching a clear position
Disorganizing the opponent's defence is a basic thing to do when you want to finish a carefully planned action. Quite often everything comes down to a single well-passed ball that matches the pace and gives the player a clear shot. In many cases, playing a ball to an empty area can give your player more space, which can be immediately used by charging into the penalty zone and taking a shot.
