Let's switch to eastern themes. The Tales of... has already had seventeen installments, so I hope I don't have to introduce it. But don't worry, Tales of Arise is a separate story, getting to know it before maybe reaching for the older parts of the series is a completely sound idea. If you enjoy animé stylistics, you should love it.

As far as I'm concerned, though, this jRPG is all about the arcade combat system. While Tales of Arise offers a ton of attacks and special techniques, each player's best friend – or enemy – is their own reflexes. Character development and acquiring increasingly better equipment will prove useless if we don't master the core principles. These may not be enough to complete the game. A bit like Sekiro, only decidedly less dark – at least in terms of the stylistics.

Play Tales of Arise, if:

  1. You're fan of animé;
  2. You like challenges;
  3. You want to test your reflexes.
