Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruins is an action RPG from the famous Monster Hunter series in which the player takes on the role of a monster hunter. Unlike most of the series, the game focuses on the story. The game was developed and released by Capcom.

Plot

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruins tells the story of a young hunter who can use Kinship Stone - a stone that allows you to establish a relationship with monsters.

Mechanics

In Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruins we look at the world from the third person perspective. The game is based on similar rules as in the previous parts - we explore locations, perform tasks and hunt monsters using different kinds of weapons during our adventures. In the course of the game we gain and create new equipment, as well as strengthen our hero and learn new skills.

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruins additionally introduces a mechanics of befriending the monsters, which is a bit like what we know from the Pokemon cycle. Creatures help us to fight, and by building a relationship with them we improve their statistics. When we travel, we also encounter various characters who can accompany us.

In Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruins we can only play alone. The game offers a story campaign.

Technical aspects

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruins has a nice, three-dimensional graphic design. Technically, the game does not belong to the top of the genre, but the graphics have its advantages - e.g. spectacular projects of locations and monsters. The slightly manga-like artistic style, reminiscent of the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, may also appeal.
